    Either way, I wish you the best of luck. While I've learned some interesting stuff, I think a 5 yr. BS/MS and then getting a job as a process engineer somewhere would have been a better idea for me. Never really considered it in detail before taking the plunge, which was a huge mistake.

    That, and trusting a magic 8-ball. But that's a story for another time.

    But if you are down for spending 5 or so years of your life thanklessly grinding away at tiny problems as a cog in the great machine of SCIENCE, I can give you some pointers to make your experience less goddamn awful.

    Does orgo stand for organic chemistry? Or something else?

    It's a bit different once you reach the grad level, but not by much. I technically only have 2-4 long-term projects right now (depending on how you count, especially with collaborations) and no classes, but that doesn't mean I have any more time. It's a breakfast-to-bed thing.

    Trust me, it only gets worse. I spent my only free time today playing a boardgame with friends at my apartment complex, now I'm looking at the clock and the day's already over. And I missed Daily Show.

    I know the feeling. I played a short 20ish turn scenario of Revolution under Siege and took all the screenshots to make an AAR on this forum, but I haven't gotten around to finishing the photo editing.

    I will also say that if Singer is in fact including himself in the "Living immorally by living in the First World" thing, at least he's more consistent than a whole lot of progressives. Most progressives always draw the line with people richer than themselves.
