    I finally won on Warlord!

Follow up question - If I always leave seed # at 0, does it mean it'll open a new map every time?

    I finally won on Warlord!

I see, thanks a lot for the clarification. I suppose there is no way to know in advance which are the "good" maps to play with.

    I finally won on Warlord!

Hi Hunter, What does seed 18471 mean? Is it the same as "preserving random seed?" I have never tried putting any number in the seed box and always leave it at 0.

Are game creators good players too?

As I struggle to master C3C, there are so many rules, nuances and tricks to remember that after a while I feel like just giving up (before I begin another game with great hopes, that is :) ) At times like this I wonder if Sid Meier himself would always win at Deity or Sid levels. I'm only at...

Why are some cities automatically razed?

OK, that makes sense. I remember a couple of cities that recently got razed had pop 1.

Why are some cities automatically razed?

With most cities, when I kill the last defendant the mil advisor asks me if I want to install a new governor. But with some, the city is razed by itself and I'm left standing on a pile of rubble. It's particularly frustrating when the city is close to a resource/lux and the whole idea was to...

    Domination on large/huge 60% continents

Also, since the most advanced civ is always a few techs ahead of me, by the time I build cavs they's got infantries and guerillas. So it's still hard to take them on. Numbers might be the answer though since cavs have decent combat stats against these units. I tried another strategy once on a...

    Domination on large/huge 60% continents

I earlier posted for advice on domination a couple of weeks ago. I was told to choose tiny or small pangea with 80% water. This also meant a lot fewer civs to play against. Some folks also set which specific civs they want. I have won a game or two with those settings. But I'm wondering how...

You have suffered an embarrassing defeat...

I had my first diplomatic loss playing chieftain. It was my second or third game and I had no clue about how things worked. I was kicking a** all around as Indians. I triggered my GA, built all wonders, and was generally feeling good with myself - you get the picture. I entered modern age and...

    Your First Games

Oh, and another thing. When negotiating with other civs, you know how the "Prepare for war" message is right above "I'm all done"? More than once, I clicked on the war message by mistake when I concluded my deal. You can guess the results!

    Your First Games

It's less than six months since I first laid my eyes on CivIII in a used books/CD store (yes, that's where I bought my first game) but it already feels like years. In the meantime, I have come close to separating from my fiancee because I stay up late nights (sometimes the whole night!) playing...

Need a domination victory real bad - advice please!

Thanks for the tips. I played Persia on a tiny, 80% pangea. I got Mayas, Koreans and Aztecs as neighbors. I went a little slow and was able to achieve domination by ~ 1520 AD. As a result, the score was somewhat lower than I would have liked (~2900). But I'm going to try again, maybe with a...

Need a domination victory real bad - advice please!

Great - thanks! I just read Ision's article on Persians. Seems like a good civ to play with. The only weakness I can think of is govt flips would take forever. But you're probably suggesting I'd never need to change govt since I need to target an AA or MA victory. I also saw an article on...

Need a domination victory real bad - advice please!

I have tried everything and nothing works! I'm really craving to DOMINATE the world for once. I thought instead of some general advice in a vacuum, I'd ask folks for some specifics. What do you think my initial settings should be? Please fill in the blanks - Civ = Babs, Celts, Incas, ...

Is planting spies easier during war?

Yes, that makes sense. I observed the chances of success went up if I waited a few turns, but I didn't have a prob #. Thanks for the tip.
