I think the largest problem is the fact that industral comes directly after renessiance. If there would be a "colonialism era" (1600-1850), it should be after renessaince and before industral. "Modern" age is also pretty weird, since it really means the beginning of 20th century...

I just add a couple of civs more to make more diplomacy and war. If I'd disable something like barbarians, ruins or specific victory conditions, the game wouldn't feel complete for me.

It's pretty weird how you can get a Great Prophet through Liberty finisher but Piety doesen't help you with GProphet at all.
