Hi Leoreth, I work at a university and was wondering if you'd feel comfortable sharing more about where you did your undergrad/graduate work and what your majors were? I have no specific reason for asking other than general interest.
I understand if that's too personal. I certainly don't want...
The Mississippians were not one people but a loose group of peoples who shared one culture. So the Cahokia mounds were settled by Dhegiha Siouan-speaking peoples, some of the more southern settlements spoke Caddoan languages, and some of the other settlements likely spoke other languages...
Romes city placements are very important for determining the relative strength of Spain/France in the current map. I think the bigger map will fix this, but always better to play Rome yourself.
Finished an India game and a Mughals game finally. The sub-continent is unable to produce a superpower without ahistorical and absurd out of region expansion. Your only coal is stuck under a rainforest until you can chop it at the end of the industrial. It's really hard to be a superpower...
The posters above looked up "secular" not "secularism" on Wiktionary, which is the in-game civic. (Screenshot below.)
1. It appears they made up a counter-definition based on a faulty starting point.
2. I will have to go in and edit Wiktionary now though. "Laicity" is not a synonym of...
Civics are about the rights and duties (rights being the key one here) of a citizen in relation to the state and an element of political science. The relation between religion and society would fall under the purview of sociology. That relationship is not a civic one.
I want to preface this with the disclaimer that I don't mean this post to be harsh. The tone can come across poorly because I'm frankly a little peeved that something like this could be controversial, but it's not meant as an attack on the previous poster in any way, shape, or form. I just...
News to report: I just played Turkey and won a time victory. I finished 6th (5th if vassals don't count) in science behind America, England + vassal, Germany, and Japan. By the end I had assembled 8 carrier groups (3 missile cruisers, 2 nuclear submarines, a destroyer, and a carrier w 3 jets...
Hi all,
I don't know if anybody else enjoys this type of play, but I really like to stomp around the world in the late game. The best civs for this in my experience are Russia, Britain, and America, but I was wondering if anybody else had discovered any other civs that make for fun late game...
Minor suggestion but America could start with secularism instead of toleration now that they begin with the tech for it?
Historically, the U.S. constitution was secular from the start and from a gameplay perspective, the player inevitably will just switch into it upon spawn anyway, so this...
When I was talking about secondary effects as America I meant the +2 happiness. It's not a ton, but it's the equivalent of a free arena in every city at a time when every production slot is precious.
I forgot about the double specialists, but I don't think it matters too much for America...
I don't think you're wrong that egalitarisnism is really strong, I just don't think the choice is as clear cut as you're making it out to be once you dig into the numbers. Egalitarisnism is "appropriately powerful." Let's think about the America case which is special because of the Statue of...
I don't know about "more skilled," but I've played >20 America games and know the ins and outs. I'll do a regular speed run and write up a guide when I have some free time :)
