    England - Victoria Thread

That looks nothing like her! She was a tough old bird, built like an ox.

Did you skip BE but will 100% get CiVI?

    1. Pre-ordered Civ 5, vowed to never pre-order another Civ game. 2. Bought BNW, loved it. 3. Pre-ordered BE, vowed never to pre-order another Civ game. 4. Went back to Civ 5, loved it. 5. Will probably pre-order Civ 6. I should have loved BE as the historical slant is what I dislike most...

    No More Distinct Modern Cities...

True, but the differences are less pronounced than in previous eras. I wouldn't expect modern cities from different cultures to be as unique as they would have been 2000 years ago. Two cities in the year 2000 that are 6 hexes apart, are from civs that have had friendly relations and traded with...

    No More Distinct Modern Cities...

At first glance the only thing that identifies London from many other major Westernised cities (and in turn them from others) is it's historical buildings. Most modern developments could be built in any major city, there isn't anything about the gherkin or the shard that would make them look out...

    No More Distinct Modern Cities...

Major cities in the modern world are more generic and gentrified than ever before. Makes sense that late game improvements/developments don't vary much.

Will Arabia be in the game?

http://well-of-souls.com/civ/civ6_overview.html#civilizations If it isn't listed here, then the answer is 'don't know yet'.

Don`t like the cartoony look of the Leaders in Civ 6.

Teddy and Hojo seem OK but there's something a bit off about Cleo - her head seems out of proportion, or maybe the shape of her cheeks and chin make her look too cartoony. I guess if the in-game graphics are going that way then it makes sense for the other graphics too, I'm not a massive fan...

    Graphics

It would be nice it were more 'realistic, although I'm still scarred from BE's awful map graphics so from a gaming perspective anything that adds colour and definition is welcome.

    Your greatest fears

Late game turn times, especially on large maps and long game speeds. I can handle most issues as long as the last third of the game doesn't turn into a 'one click every few minutes' scenario.

Old timer's, what are your thoughts so far?

Started with Civ2 on the PS, played that and 3 to death, for some reason I can't recall I didn't play 4 much but love Civ5 BNW. I'm always excited about a new Civ, BE should have been my dream game but it was such a crushing disappointment, but I have high expectations for Civ6, it looks great...

    Is CVI going to blow?

They've made specific reference in interviews to the stripped down nature of vanilla Civ5 and have said they want to avoid it. I think it was said that the only thing of the main game concepts that has been left out is the world congress, and that religion and trade (which I think were the two...

If you were an AI, what would your Agenda be?

Just leave me the :) :) :) :):) :) :) :):) :) :) :):) :) :) :) alone: any complaining about close borders or quick expansion will lead to 2000 years of passive-aggressive niggling followed by a burst of extreme violence when nukes are developed.

Pyramids can be built only on desert tiles

Absolutely, they'll be created to show a variety of things in a single screenshot, and as such that may never be possible in the finished version.

Pyramids can be built only on desert tiles

Makes sense to me. Anything that drives diversity based on civilization choices and terrain locations is a good thing.

    No more 1UPT/"Support" units

Seems like the logical solution to sit between 1UPT and those horrible stacks of units of old. Creating groups/formations and allowing escorting type units to lock with others is a good compromise.
