The future of Fall from Heaven

I wonder if the team has thought of doing a kickstarter for this. As old as this thread is it's unlikely the group is still in touch. But given the successful funding of other game projects through it, it's at least a possible way of getting it done.

    City State Diplomacy Mod (Updated)

Honestly, I found that somewhat unintuitive. I'd think that the ally declaring war on another civ shouldn't be that drastic of a hit. The other way around yeah, since the non-ally civ was the aggressor.

    ICS? Icey No!

Even if it's limited to an integer, there's ways to get around that. Especially now that you can change everything with a single sql call. You could conceivably double everything's happiness/unhappiness value (or research, or gold, or culture, etc) and just leave the one thing you want halved...

    Armies

Speaking of submarine bugs... they can shoot through land (but not at land units). They have access to the improve land bombardment promotions (... sigh). And they're rendered pretty worthless outside a city because while only destroyers and subs see them, they see them at their FULL sight...

    ICS? Icey No!

Since maritime CS can't be fundamentally changed in how they work, perhaps dropping the food per city to 1 (and not have it increase with eras) and leaving the capitol the same or maybe a boost there. Still some benefit to ICS but not near as much and a lot more benefit to a smaller empire...

    Building Resources

Hmm.. yeah, they're more using the db for storing setting values than dynamic data aren't they. I just now grasped how honestly strange that concept is to me. I do a lot of web app development and there the db is all about the dynamic (stored) data and almost nothing with settings.

    Building Resources

Out of curiosity, was it not possible to make a new table and save the data into the table? From what I've seen of the sql side, it seems possible but not sure if it's as easy to access from lua. That should take care of the save game issue without requiring serializing to a specific string...

    Emigration

might be interesting if a captured city produced extra refugees that move to nearby cities/civs with a temporary negative effect per person if accepted and maybe a negative diplomatic effect if rejected.

    Armies

How about just giving siege units a bonus to nearby melee attacks against cities? Don't know if it's possible to limit it to just against cities, but even a general bonus is not too unreasonable. Keeping your melee units around siege all the time for the bonus is tough, as you have to be...

    Civil Engineer

There are up/down river checks in the plot (class? not sure how those are handled in lua). I'm not saying it'd be easy, but it seems at least theoretically doable as long as you can change a tile type via lua.

    Improvements

What'd be cool though not sure if it's implementable, a gold bonus based on the number of desert tiles around it. Idea being, if it's out in the middle of the desert, more caravans will be stopping by as it's the only choice and thus, more gold. It's right next to a flood plains? Less need to...

    City Development

Honestly, it's the choice part that I think is most broken about it. If it could be a random tech that makes it much more of a gamble as to being worthwhile. Or, if it could always be a mid-low cost tech. ICS is a problem because the penalties do not outweigh the benefits. Doubly so if...

    Emigration

I think in historical circles, the term dark ages actually refers from about 500-1000AD, regarding both the drop in quality of life/world understanding and the general lack of written history during this period (for western europe of course). We know more about Roman/Greek politics and...

    Civil Engineer

Yes and above those I mentioned one that sounds like setting a terrain type. The others would be for checking if the dam (in this case) would even be viable. You shouldn't be able to make a dam that would actually connect the new lake tiles with ocean, ie not really lake anymore but coastal...

    Diplomacy

Probably, the AI doesn't like to be in multiple wars and if you've got a few CS allied it can tip the balance a bit more. I wish they'd left vassal states in V. As is, by the time the AI is really begging for peace they're giving you all their cities besides their capitol. Then, their...
