Screenshot of the Day #122: Rich France!

The later techs must be worth quite a bit to the AI. I was at war with Egypt in a Regent game and decided to negotiate peace after kicking Cleo around quite a bit. She refused to give me Amphibious War, but was still willing to give almost 100 GPT!

    DevMod SG

Downloading right now. I'm looking for a Regent or Monarch SG. I have fine conquest proof of success at these levels if you wish to inquire. This will be my first SG. Get back to you soon.

Screenshot of the Day #111: Nuclear Meltdown

This happened to me before with the Americans. I have only seen it happen during civil disorder. I have never seen it happen during Anarchy. I wonder if nuke plants are vulnerable during a modern-age revolution. Interesting theory.

How can I get ahead of the AI in technology by lightyears, and have a large military?

Referring to my previous post. The "light-years" lead will more than likely be seen on Chieftain. But on higher levels, you will see a nice window of opportunity by beating the AI to key military techs (MIl Tradition, replaceable parts)

How can I get ahead of the AI in technology by lightyears, and have a large military?

The AI follows a certain research path which I have noticed in the ancient age on all difficulties. I have noticed that the AI puts off techs like Monarchy and Polytheism, and sometimes Literature. Usually I can trade these for whatever I they have. From the medieval times and on, it helps...

Funniest Thing the Computer has Said?

I was playing against the Mongols recently and struck a deal with Genghis Kahn. He replied with "It was a pleasure speaking with you. Odd, since you are so far inferior, but personality does go a long way."

Scientific civ's free modern age tech

This will make it more of a challenge for non-scientific civs on larger maps on emperor/deity. It is quite possible for the AI scientific civs to acquire all four modern age techs within one or two turns by trading the freebie. Imagine going from tech lead to four behind in one turn.

Screenshot of the Day #78: Come Closer

Wow! My 15 minutes of fame. When I first saw this I was LMAO. I just had to submit. The beard is cool and somewhat accurate. What puzzles me is why Hannibal is bald in the modern age and has a full head of hair in the medieval times. Maybe the Carthage Hair Club for Men had to shut down due...

    Civ3 Limericks

In 3000 BC you defeat the Koreans And crush you enemies and laugh at their defense While you may be proud We shout out loud You should really stop playing on Chieftain

    moving from Warlord to Regent...

Another tip: I have noticed that even on Regent, The AI sometimes settles undefended cities very early on. That's why I like to have a couple of spearmen or warriors scope out my surroundings. Declare war and take the city. Don't worry about an early retaliation from the AI since they have...

    Determining # of Turns Remaining

The things I have observed which affect AI attitude during diplomacy are refusing a demand, making a demand. Also cancelling an alliance, ROP, MPP, or trade agreement will affect attitude as well even though it has peacefully expired. I have even seen Gracious go to Furious with such...

    Waiting for PTW...

I went to Wal-Mart at midnight tonight hoping to get it only to find out that that truck comes in the morning. There were others there too, but waiting for GTF: Vice City.

    GOTM #12 *Spoilers* Thread

An easy space race for me too after taking out the Indians, Chinese, and half of Babylon. I was pretty passive after that. 1832AD with a pretty average 3088. I must say Militaristic and Expansionist ain't all that great.. Anyway, I was able to expand to only five cities early on. After...

    who else loves the music?

To all those who find one track particularly annoying: I don't know if it works on Wintel, but on the Mac, provided you have done a full install, replace the MP3 files in the appropriate location by other MP3s, renaming them appropriately. So take your fav song, name it "SmashFull.mp3" (I...

    FANTASTIC EFFORT ON 1.29f

Has there always been a tendency for the AI not to rush to research Literature? I am playing my first 1.29f game on Monarch, Cleopatra, standard map, large continents. Bought writing from the Greeks and researched Lit in 15 turns. Then built the GL in 30 or so turns while all my rivals were...
