    Construction vs Research: early game

I am playing Large, Continents, Epic speed, King difficulty, all default settings apart from that and I voted the balance is good. I am doing alright, always 2nd or 3rd place and in the Medieval era currently. My cities have never run out of new buildings to build according to their...

    K-Mod: Far Beyond the Sword

Hi there, I've been following the thread for a couple of weeks, this mod is intriguing and being a little disillusioned with Civ 5 I am delighted to see that Civ 4 mods are still getting some attention. Please forgive me for jumping straight in on this, but I recognise that this concept causes...

    Notification Options and Improved Events

This looks great, I will start using this for with my new game today. A question: is it possible to filter all types of notification when they refer to an unmet player? I usually play Large Continents with 15 civs and I get a lot of the "An unmet player denounced an unmet player" type of...

Refined Poll: your standing with the game

I voted B although it could have been D. I am done with the game until such a point that it fulfills a lot more of its potential. IMO a lot of the variety and replayability got streamlined out of this iteration of the series; I've only played as much as I have thanks to modders fixing the...

    Getting Started

Hi there Thal, thank you for putting these mods together, I couldn't imagine playing without. Do you have any control over what the AI offers to the player in the "capitulation deal" once they have decided they are desperate to buy peace? They are far too generous and offer multiple cities...

Combined Civilization's Mods and Tweaks (CCMAT)

Have you considered including Captain Haddock's Promotion and Experience mods? I add them in with CCMAT for all my games. In fights with the AI the human is always better at a) organising XP buildings and keeping units alive to obtain high XP units, and b) using promotions / unit counters /...

Combined Civilization's Mods and Tweaks (CCMAT)

Thanks so much for putting this together, my current game (large continents, marathon +production, 15 players, no city states) with v9 is playing great so far. I'm really having a lot of fun with Civ 5 now thanks to all these mods. Any idea if it will ever be possible to get certain mods...

    Armies

To achieve unit type-specific terrain bonuses, could we not use a unit type promotion against each unit, such as: * Melee Unit: +25% defense in forest, jungle, hills * Tracked Unit: +25% attack in open, -33% defence in forest, jungle, city * Helicopter Unit: +25% attack in open, -33% attack in...

    Mod Component Request Thread

Most of the information held in the top left info panel doesn't really warrant keeping it open continuously. The tech progress is covered by the top bar, and I haven't felt the need to keep the unit list or city list permanently open. Could this panel be put to more use? How about an "Oracle...

Combined Civilization's Mods and Tweaks (CCMAT)

It certainly doesn't automatically update mods at the moment, but I guess that inclusion in the manual means that it's an intended feature we'll get at some point. There is some flexibility in the current system though, Civ 5 allows you to manually upgrade a mod to a new version and continue a...

    Art of War mod

I guess you could even consider all units naturally healing 1HP per turn (against this 20HP total) and any fortifying and medics add to that at the rate we have now.

    Art of War mod

I was thinking of suggesting the medic promotion be made more effective/essential too, but I concluded that it would give humans another thing to outperform the AI with. I think it perhaps comes down to whether you have multiplayer games or single player games in mind. If the heal rates remain...

    Art of War mod

I'm still enjoying the mod, but I'm wondering if cities have too many hit points. In my new game it took five turns of constant attacking from 4 units (2 spearmen, 2 horsemen) to take down an unwalled city that had just been settled by the Romans. Rome had only warrior and archer tech but...

    Art of War mod

Currently the heal rates are to recover 3/2/1 HP/t when in a city/friendly territory/elsewhere, and an additional 1 HP/t when within a hex of a medic. I am convinced a good start point would be to double all these values. Units lose 5-10 HP in a battle often and quite often 10-15, so healing...

    Promotions Displayed with Unit Icon

It's a great concept but I agree it probably needs shrinking. Perhaps only user-selected promotions should be displayed? A variation might be to have a tiny rank symbol to indicate a unit's level as it gains experience.
