Already tried multiple restarts. Haven't been able to get it to work for several days now. Incredibly annoying that I need to go through the internet and Steam's apparently inadequate servers to play a game on my computer.

Huh? If you build the internet, then you just gifted all your techs to the whole world without them even having to research it.

I just tried out my first calvalry only attack, and it went extremely well. Attacked a city with walls that would have taken my siege 4 or 5 units to reduce to 0 and then I still would have lost a bunch of siege to the CGII long bows. Instead my stack of 8 flanking II cuirs took out 3 longbows...

Won't you lose the fresh water bonus and end up with a really low health cap?
