Two more days. Meh. Have fun!

    Fantasy Expansion

Like "Wrath of panda" - (near woods) military units spread confusion around enemy troops by frantically screaming at trees? :mischief:

    9th Civ: It's Sweden

It fits. Sweden played a very important role in the Thirty-Years-War (several catholic-protestant wars in the region of the holy roman empire), and this came not unexpected for me considering the religious shade of the expansion.

The Heavy Metal Empire „I believe in the fans. I believe in metal more than anybody you've ever met. And another thing, I'm prepared to die for metal. Are you?“ ~ Joey DeMaio UA: Drums of Doom - with the invention of music, all currently active military units gain +10% strength +...

[HELP] Built a new comp. End turn still takes 1 min to finish.

I found it to run a BIT faster in DX 9 mode. Still - I avoid huge maps. A pity!

How much do you value the Great Wall?

Yeah, if you WANT to play a more defensive game (which tends to a science, cultural or diplomatic victory) then you usually have other priorities. (e.g. GL, HS, PT, ...) It could be useful, but it wouldn't be my priority.

Do you play with ruins on or off?

On, makes exploring even more fun. About Civ 2: wasn't it great when you went for those villages, plundered them and out came those eight barbarians? Fortunately, not all of them attacked most of the time. :D

    [FULL] Putmalk's Mesopotamia

Yah. It's only that I actually read the civilopedia entry before I built it. Doesn't bug me, it was just a funny feeling. ^^ Edit: hm... 2nd game, now as hittites: iron revealed and theres only one in minor asia and one to the extreme east as far as the map's revealed right now (upper third)...

It's odd to build Christian churches in a scenario that ends in 500 BC. :D

    Advice for Civ5

Personally, I think cIV is great - but only with mods (such as Fall from Heaven II). When it comes to vanilla, I like ciV best AND there is much mod development as well. -> go for V.

Good idea of course, but it's cheaper to upgrade warriors. If you go for a swordman start it's a real blow if you have 4-5 cities without one iron source. ^^ It's ok then, I didn't know this. De nada. ;) PS: Great maps! PPS: Science progress seems reasonable to me. I'm at ~turn 220 and I've...

Played it now and I like it. Two things that bug me however: 1) I think you should be able to upgrade warriors to axemen, just to give them some small boost in case your DoWed early and don't have iron available yet. 2) That brings me to another thing: there's no middle or late game unit that...

[FULL] Putmalk's Ancient World Discussion Thread

I liked the Idea of bronze or iron weapon upgrades (promotions) in cIV Fall From Heaven II. If you got access to iron and your old units entered your cities, they automatically received these promotions (bronze + ~10% strength, iron + ~20% strength). The problem is obvious though: you only...
