    Actually there's no reason to kiss his ring at all. The penalty for refusing cash requests is negligible. You should just refuse all cash requests, but accept all tax raises.     There's a nice thread about price mechanics http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=292862 The part about handicap percentage appear inaccurate. I did some tests and price change seems to be unaffected by difficulty. It might be affected by game speed, though.

    Smuggling in C4C ???

    It's a bug and exploit. It lets you sell raw materials and everything without tax. 1. No risk. 2. No tax. 3. No Europe. I don't think the game was made to be that way. If you don't want tax, you can still trade massive amounts at a time on big intervals. That's one exploit nobody is in any hurry...

    AFAIK, you cant sell blockaded goods. They go to waste.

    Prices are more sensitive. You get bad outcomes from ruins often (especially with no scout). Tribes are aggressive. Not much gold from pillage, either.
