First game on King, Germany has come at me twice and been pushed back. Monty and Japan have been at war repeatedly but with little effect. Someone somewhere has eaten quite a few city states.
Reasonably impressed with the ai, nothing especially stupid and the agendas are working neatly.
In general my commerce cities will tend to favour science buildings, there are more of them, on better tech paths and are less hammers (tend to be prod poor and whipping is meh).
A sexy cottage cap is going to be a good thing in a lot of games, bureaucracy is that good. Often its a good idea to...
Would move the warrior 1NW just to check whats around, dont think we can go too far wrong with settling given all the river and the wet corn. Would probably not move up for the cow unless there is something else north as a suspect we will be going mining > BW > pottery and leaving AH for a while.
Overlapping BFCs initially seems counter intuitive, as the assumption is you want each city working as many tiles as possible. However this will only happen a lot later in the game, and an advantage now is better than an advantage later.
Two main benefits of overlapping cities:
1) Share food...
Well you can get prod bonus for settlers and workers. Importantly all that whipping a building with a trait bonus will get you is a lower pop whip for that building, the bonus applied to the overflow hammers is separate.
In the same way whip overflow into a wonder will be doubled by industrious.
Without the time/energy/cognitive capacity to work out the optimal i like:
SIP
BW > Fish while working the marble, building a worker. Worker mines marble then chops a wb. Any free time can be spent pre-chopping forrests.
GLH looks pretty excellent even at this early stage (and we will be...
Move the warrior 1SE, settling on a plains hill is normally a good move, 1S is immediately looking nice but if there is a resource 3E of starting location then 1E may be better.
Initial tech path to go Agr -> mining -> AH, that should give plenty for your worker to do while your warrior has a...
At 15 cities you've pretty much got your choice. Pick a city with a big food surplus and run some scientists, get an academy in your cap and bulb towards liberalism (paper, philo, education).
If you have marble/want the great library in your GP farm tech literature then music for the GGA and...
Fair enough, ill add a few thoughts, lots of little things cos thats how i roll.

-Early tech path i am a bit meh on, would have gone AH before pottery, presumably you were working unimproved or green mines for a while.
-Why konya, as far as i can tell its essentially a filler and...
You basically got it with those three examples. Its often used to bulb philosophy and education on the path through to liberalism for the free technology.
@ywht
I would politely disagree. If your plan is to rush buy (or whip) any kind of army in the late game the kremlin is huge, its not a waste in my opinion.
