    Total War Medieval and Viking Invasion are better. In fact, Civ 2 is a better game, even though it does not have cute little beavers and horses which are too stupid to wander out of the valley that they somehow were put in by the mothership.

    Hmmm, seems like Turkey qualifies. The official state religion is secular humanism but the real state religion is Islam. (Say if some Europeans stop capitalizing "Christianity" will they have the balls to stop capitalizing "Islam"?

    Try uninstalling the game. Re-install it and start the game with the cd in the drive.

    It almost always seemed to generate for me a snakey huge continent and one or two small continents with very few,if any, islands. I can't see why it is so well liked.

    Another reason to always use "balanced" setting - even then things can be dicey.

    I don't like playing a leader with a spiritual trait because as an anarchist I enjoy the 4 or more turns of anarchy when switching governments so that my citizens can steal and rape to their hearts delight - it always leads to such progess and happiness after they get it out of their system.

    Why does the AI build so many farms?

    Why waste valuable worker time buiding stuff outside your borders unless you plan to expand there soon or you are spreading irrigation?
