    IIrc, WildMana, an older version of MoM, did requiere FFH2. But MoM is standalone and doesn't require FFH2.

    Yeah, you have to research ancient chants. It is explained in more detail in the civilopedia under MasterOfMana Concepts/Religion. Also, make sure you're not playing as an agnostic civilization, but you're probably aware of that.

    Yes, there is a limitation. The amount of units you can build is indicated in the top left corner, to the right of your money count. You can increase this number by building military buildings, some magical enchantments or some civics. I don't know, whether the AI is affected by this limitation.
