why the AI never pays tribute??

I wasn't aware that giving tribute was pointless; good to know, thank you. A chronology: Sept--Oct--Nov:cry:-Dec--Jan-::gripe::-Feb::wallbash::-Mar--Apr--May-:dunno:

    Armageddon

With armageddon rapidly approaching... Just wanted to apologize to any of you die hard Civ V fans that I may have offended over the course of the last year. Sorry. As I'm fairly certain that I won't be hearing from many of you after tomorrow, Just wanted to say: It's been fun, and...

I take my gold with me... to my grave

I hear this arguement incessantly. Could someone please tell me what Civ 4 has to do with how the AI handles itself in V? The "broken mechanic" being referenced is in V. Right? To point to past deficiencies as justification for present problems is an odd way of looking at things; And...

    FRUSTRATED with ENEMY ROAD maintenance!

We have the option to sell buildings we don't want. Why not roads and rail? Chosing whether or not to pay for road/rail maintenance seems pretty staight forward. I like the idea. I wish new how to code so i could deliver it to you on a silver platter:D

"Must promote before end of turn" WTF???

Willful decisions by a lead designer who was WAY out of his league bent on making something "new" despite, and in spite of, the yrs of devotion and dedication that went into the creation of the very franchise that put food on his table. Well, at least that's my perspective.

    what's the point of fallout?

Yes, please. It's odd that using nukes would have no diplomatic costs attatched. Particularly so, if your the first to launch. A retaliatory nuke strike seems kosher but I'd like to see more adverse consequences attatched to being the first Civ to use nukes. The use of...

does the AI ever use aircrafts?

    Sure about that?

Civilization "Depth" - A Civ 4 vs. Civ 5 Comparison

Seems right to me. The noob got the goldmine, the "hard-core" fan got the shaft. Does the O.P. think that perhaps this (de?)evolution could be do to market forces? I don't play video games. I play(ed), Civilization. Singularly. I'm not going to bother explaining why, it's all been...

Civilization "Depth" - A Civ 4 vs. Civ 5 Comparison

    High level cheap shot

Yes. But what exactly that "optimal choice" is, is un-knowable and changes from start to start as the "optimal choice" will always be influenced by facts of which we have no knowledge. (fog of war etc.) knowing a rush is possible is different than knowing one is guaranteed. Choices...

right... no more peaceful games... ever.

For the most part, smashing the AIs is the only way I've ever played any Civ game. But your point is well made. If CiV were a pool, diving would be extremely dangerous.

Thinking of trying civ 5 again.

No! The diplo A.I. in this game is laughable and acts, only coincidentally, as how I percieve a rational human might act. The A.I. does do a great impression of a paranoid schizophrenic though. Could this be what you meant by acting human? Human like: Gadaffi or Manson or John...

So now can you attach a military unit with a worker or settler?

There is always more that could be added. That's entirely not the O.Ps point. Games are supposed to be fun. Any addition that streamlines repetitive repetitive repetitve processes is good. What the hell does lazy have to do with steamlining? So pushing an extra button is what marks the...

What is the "big mystery" coming in the next few months

After looking at the options made avail. it appears an A.I. that knows how to fight is not on the table? With so many limiting rules/zone of control issues that make it next to impossible for the A.I. to move its pieces around the board effectively; I'd like to see rule changes that allow...
