The critique of Humankind's basic economic and city building system: the root of balance issues

I agree with a lot of the criticisms, snowballing severely damages the fun of a game. Contrasting the early game (not just humankind but almost every 4X I have played) - where every turn counts and forgetting to reallocate resources can drastically alter your fortunes (i.e. extremely fun), with...

    Humankind - Americans discussion thread

I think the issue of most appropriate affinity is going to be by far the most challenging in the contemporary era - although America is probably the most difficult of all cultures - having a reasonable claim to many affinities. I probably would've preferred Scientist. Alternatively if the...

    Humankind Game by Amplitude

Wow! That is phenomenal. The harp and valiha make it so whimsical. Arnaud Roy / FlyByNo definitely has a distinct style, I was a huge fan of the Endless Legend soundtrack, and Humankind is definitely shaping up to have the same sort of charm! Glad they are still dropping crumbs for us little mice.

I completely agree that the mechanics related to population, unlimited districts, and runaway FIMS growth need to be addressed. This is definitely accentuated by some cultures (Byzantine Hippodromos, Khmer Baray, Teuton Kaiserdom, and Mughal Jama Masjid), which really propel you forward. This...

I have not tested this myself, but are you guaranteed to lose your ship if it spends more than one turn "lost at sea"? I would certainly prefer for there to be a chance that the ship flounders, but it would be nice if there was a possibility that you could make it to distant lands, provided you...

Thoughts on the Huns and the "Nomadic" Culture

That is an awesome idea! Nomadic Polynesians would be incredibly cool

    Idea - "rough" era transitions

Very cool idea! I have no idea if the game suffers from issues of snowballing, but the stability penalty could be slightly higher for the first culture to transition, and become progressively weaker for the remaining cultures. Acting as a bit of a "speed limit"

Your most/least favourite designs of Cultures (either mechanics or graphics)

Yeah I agree, updated art for Goths, Romans and Franks wouldn't be amiss in my opinion either...

    Humankind - French discussion thread

Pleasantly surprised by the scientist affinity. Superb culture card (could have used a little more French iconography though, nay? I do see the tricolour flying in the background!), great pick for EQ, and cool EU. Although I wouldn't have minded seeing something like the Guard Horse Grenadiers...

    Humankind - British Empire Thread

Another gorgeous culture card (the artists have been absolutely crushing it since the Early Modern, in my opinion). I'm a tiny bit disappointed that the British don't seem to be more multifaceted (Expansionist unit, and district, and affinity). I was hoping that the district would've been...

Agreed, I'm not sure of the most elegant way to do it - Amplitude has clearly spent considerable time crafting the aesthetic of the map and the battlefield. Do you think it needs to appear on the map all the time, or could it be part of a terrain tooltip similar to what I mocked-up below (the...
