Easiest way to win on deity is to use the food to force build troops and rush the AI. Keep all the cities and just irrigate the 2-3 best food squares. Keep your town pops down and force build the best troops you can make. Mobile units are the best to use be cause you can send them to attack and...
Another note: Anyone notice how the game goes so much faster at Deity level? The AI researches techs so fast. On a standard map, I generally reach modern age in the 600-700 ADs!
Try making peace with everyone and trading your way up the tech ladder. By being the tech broker, you can make a lot of money and actually get ahead in techs.
Standard map with 8 total civs. I tried huge, but my comp cannot handle the AI turns - takes like 5 min each
I prefer an aggressive militaristic civ. Militaristic/expansionist works best here. You get the mil advantages and you get a better start.
I am currently trying the French because...
Update - since I am now doing this strategy on Deity level.
It's fairly easy to wipe out 1-2 AI civs, but you REALLY fall behind in tech development. The other civs are angry at you and will generally be stingy with trades. If you do not make early contact with all civs, you can quickly fall...
War weariness only affects Republic and Democracy - I do the war thing at the beginning when I am Despot/Monarch. Later on, You can actually get a bonus when a rival attacks you. Kinda like American pride - all the citizens say, "Let's go kick Commie @$$!"
Yea, airports are sick. I usually make about 5-6 on mainland. Once I invade a new continent, I can almost instantaneously transport my entire army into enemy territory. I was appalled the first I used it - and the AI never does!
Bombers are the same way. Instantaneously move all across the...
1. Under despotism and during early wars, I just declare war on them again. It's better to declare war I think than just sneak attack. This hurts your standing with other civs though, so restrain yourself. Be careful not to do right of passage agreements. The damage from attacking out of a right...
Fighting a war on another continent can be a difficult experience. Here's a tip for making D-Day a little less tramatic by taking advantage of the AI's inability to wage war.
Once the AI has built railroads, he will respond to your invasion force IMMEDIATELY with almost every mobile unit in...
What do you do when you are waging war and have captured an important city far away? I prefer not to raze it, and sometimes it can be difficult to keep it. I have developed some guidelines for making good use of those cities...
A couple things to keep in mind:
1. AI values cities very...
That may be a good way to get the comp to respect you - may a crapload of warriors and workers - then they think you are strong militarily and leave you alone.
