I've played a couple games up to the start of Classical era just to see how he is but the new Harald is absolutely wonderful and different. Rushing archery and pumping out ranged to support your levied troops can let you rush a neighbor or you can stay "peaceful" and merely explore and fight...
I'm liking the new Norway especially with secret societies for super early governor titles. Meet a civ for first envoy and use any governor title you've gained from the meet, a hut, or wonder to suz with Amani and for 40-60 gold you get 4-6 warriors sometimes by turn 7-8 to explore, clear barbs...
Theodora looks like a completely busted leader. She looks amazingly fun but if this game was still being actively developed she'd be getting a big nerf at some point.
Add Heroes and then see how far you can drop the time. Hercules with 3 free districts every era or Sinbad coming out and giving you 4-6k gold in the classical while also guaranteeing you another golden age with him circling the world, finding wonders, zapping barb camps and ships, and meeting...
They need to just cut the production/price/upkeep of anti-cav in half across the board. Make their niche being cheap. Another idea is cut their upkeep in half and then also make it so any anti-cav produced in an encampment with a barracks comes out with a second unit. Cheap and plentiful...
Warriors will still be able to take down barb camps. It just won't be nearly as fast. They'll need to be careful until they get their first promotion which will put them back to where an unpromoted, pre-nerf warrior used to be. Isn't the melee advantage dropping from +10 to +5? The first...
I like the Twins. They aren't super strong though so you want to make sure you bring them out at the start of an era. I've had great success using them to defend against wars declared against me and converting barb swarms but they have been less than exciting if my current opponent doesn't...
If I'm playing Babylon my first build is a Sabum Kibittum and hope to get a scout out of a goody hut. The warrior and SK then roam around looking for barb camps. It is a very nice unique unit for the era score plus it's usually worth at least one barb camp and maybe an extra goody hut or two...
Hercules is good at combat and has the highest base strength but he's not even close to the best combat hero. The AI doesn't use their heroes as well as humans do. All of the combat oriented heroes are better than Hercules with the other war related bonuses and things they bring to the table.
It's not a big deal in this case. I'm about to settle a city next to it and with hero teleport it's easy to pick up the bonus before heading to the front lines.
You can't fight first, but you can use her ability and then fight afterwards I'm pretty sure.
I thought I recalled the Firaxis team saying Arthur can't turn vampires or heroes into questing knights. I haven't tried it.
Also, I discovered last night that the Giant's Causeway effect works on...
They don't have the levied icon anymore so I assume they are mine. Also, units converted keep their health level so it's best to turn full units into questing knights so they start at full power. They do refresh their action though so you can move a warrior say, convert him, and then he's a 44...
