Have a new problem now. After I get to the internet my connection is okay for about a minute and then i get page cannot be displayed errors. the 2 tvs are still there in the system tray and I can ping websites...just can't do nowt else. Means of course that I cannot play multiplayer...

Finally got game back. Managed to info out of support (eventually) about how to manually uninstall / re-install the game. It does see to be working now. Suspect that some of the game files had become corrupted during the restore procedure.

Wired connected. Using Mcafee Internet Security suite 8.0...recently bought and fully uptodate. No error messages when windows starts...just when civ4 starts.

connect to net via broadband...have firewall (of course) Can't go back to factory settings as its a custom made PC

Have mcafee installed...it says everything is fine...and its the latest version

had a few problems with my computer so I went back to an older 'restore point' (on Windows XP Home). The issues I was experiencing were fixed (ie, unable to run Windows Update), but am now experiencing issues with Civilization IV. When i attempt to run the game I see two error messages...

Spent all morning trying to get a game going....finally was sorted after 3 to 4 hours. Tonight things are even worse with barely any games going at all. I don't know what the problem is but it is terrible.

Great suggestions...what's the chance they'll happen...

Multiplayer is good, but the lobby desperately needs fixing (*hint* the scroll *hint*) and the synch issue is extremely frustrating. however, whenever I load the game up....my first instinct is to check to see if there are any good MP games going on before I play on my own against the computer.

Had a crash to desktop myself. Was playing on a larger map...getting towards the end of the game....and wallop...back to the desktop went I.

If I don't get a copy today I will throw a rather large wobbly. Play has shipped....and Tescos have shipped my cancelled order. So one way or the other I should get a copy. So I'll need to do a return and refund myself.

In the past I have pre-ordered games from play and they have shipped on the Monday, being with me on Wednesday. it does depend on when they ship the goods as to whether they get it to you before gameplay or not.

Chances are it will have been flown out last night and should be on the mainland today. Today it will be sorted and dispatched to the relevant postal areas. Hence the soonest is a 2 day delivery. Doubt that they will ferry out the parcels.

I'm now starting to pray that I don't have the same problem. Although I don't have any of the banned programs on my PC I do have 2 DVD drives. I know it shouldn't be a problem, but reading the thread to me it sounds as if something doesn't like the presence of 2 DVD drives.
