Civ VI is done. So how does Civ V look in comparison?

I was actually in the process of designing a Civ 5 'Into the Classical Era' which would be the sequel to Wonders of the Ancient World - I guess it would be similar to the Conquests of Alexander but more of a parallel universe. Until I lost my harddrive and I didn't have anything backed up...

Civ VI is done. So how does Civ V look in comparison?

Interesting - I read about Civ 6 and the graphics, the Districts (just seemed an unnecessary forced mechanic) & Religious Victory turned me off. Religious Victory in particular - without breaking the rules of the forum - Out of all the religions in the world there's only 2 that have an obsession...

Civ VI is done. So how does Civ V look in comparison?

The only sad part is that they didn't upgrade Wonders of the Ancient World & Into the Renaissance with BNW

Have You Ditched Civ VI and Returned to Civ V?

I was turned off from Civ 6 from the graphics style. Civ 5 gets boring after a while because the game is let down by a few tedious mechanics that really should have been scrapped. Cut back on the tedious tile improvement micro (this often takes up nearly or maybe more than half of your game...

    Early Eldorado Gold

So i was playing through one of the Diety games uploaded to the Strategy forum and had the luck of cashing in on El Dorado on Turn 5 with a 500 gold payout. My question is what is the best way to spend this gold. 1. Buy a settler and plant an early 2nd city - I've tried this on the map and it...

    Favorite Scenarios?

Honeslty the devs dropped the ball a bit a bit with scenarios - a few were great and have lots of potential but they needed a bit of touching up to bring them up to scratch, Conquest of the New World was great because it got a deluxe version. Wonders of the Ancient World was fun - try the deluxe...

[BNW] Community Deity Game #34 - Rome

Ok long time no post - i had a shot at this. Expanded to 3 cities with Liberty. Realised the Mongols were right on my doorstep with a huge army. They attacked the city state to my West - i blocked the mongols a bit allowing the CS to kil some of their units. After they ate the neigbouring city...

I need help generating Great People optimally

The problem with working the writers and artists guilds early is that you have to take a lot of population off growth to work the guilds. &You can offset this with inbound food trade routes, the hanging gardens etc... but it it still a hit to your growth.

    Deity Science Victory

I have a suspision that the AI tends to favor Order & Autocracy if they have a lot of cities. As the AI tends to expand at a fairly linear rate (they'll keep plopping new cities as the game continues) they are probably coded to favor Order. I have noticed that Venice and other civs that have...

    Using great engineers

What's wrong with generating a couple of Engineers? If you are rushing a SV wouldn't using Engineers on Statue of Liberty and Hubble Space Telescope still help with a SV?

[BNW] What do you think of BNW replay value?

The replay value is probably better than the earlier civilisation games. I think people expect more now so the benchmark is much higher. You are far from the first to make those observations about BNW - there are some problems inherent. A civ with a few large cities tends to do better than a...

    Don't know how to continue

What social policies are you using? Generally the Tradition tree is the best for a small empire like what you have - it generates bucketloads of happiness in your capital. What religious beliefs do you have? Ideally you should be trying to settle some more cities - preferably a bit closer to...

    Cultural victory but war

I've won countless games surviving with very little military just by bribing AIs to attack each other. You just have to be careful doing this though, that one AI doesn't swallow another AI and then become double the size. Then you'll have an even bigger problem to deal with.
