I dislike the;
1. Eureka/Inspiration
2. Underwhelming Wonders
3. Religious Victory Condition
4. City State Relationships
Wonders are a honey pot for new players on higher difficulties. Although ironically if I had a good start in Civ5 I'd try to chop out the pyramids because you could repair pillaged tiles in one turn making it my go to deity strategy. You are almost always better securing more land, resources...
most people rate the US as an average Civ comparable to Kongo or another in that tier I have America above Spain and Denmark but they aren't better than France. France's x2 spy is fantastic for all non domination victory types. The new spies are flexible and can help the player reach tech...
The AI's ability to win a religious victory is exacerbated on small and tiny maps so its not so much of a problem on Standard, I'll admit. But frankly after that loss I've been dropping two holy sites as my first districts and hammered out prayers. While it is a commitment of early hammers once...
Thanks for making my point that founding a religion is essential to ensuring a victory on deity. If the only way the AI can win is through religion the easiest way to secure a victory is founding a religion.
It's completely over your head or you're pUrposefully trolling the thread DOWing England who won wouldn't have helped. In that situation I would have had to know that she was flipping Russia's cities through a spy and then attacked and took the converted cities faster than she reached...
I think the problem is exacerbated the smaller the maps go; although I lost a domination victory on Standard size with one city left to a religious victory. The problem there would have been solved by razing some of the cities that had the predominant religion so that's certainly on me but in...
I recently lost a tiny 4 leaf clover map where the other three religions were basically even, my cities were pretty fluid they would change every few turns and none of the other Civs seemed interested in a religious victory Scythia starts a war with England and she loses several of her cities...
On Standard and smaller maps, if you fail to secure a religion you are creating an opportunity for the AI to easily obtain a religious victory. I realize you can create holy sites in different cities that have different religions and create missionaries to avoid a predominant religion but...
If you plan for it and have 2-3 bonus resources you can get the Great Zimbabwe late because the AI won't plan to put a commercial district in such a way that it leaves a space for the wonder and a herd of cattle. I usually wait to get factories before I build it.
