I don't have much luck with the 3 defender in each city approach.
They don't seem to be any match for a large stack of ai offensive units. Now I try and keep 1 defender for each 3 citizens of population in all my cities. it seems to be a more effecitve deterrent.
Someone should make a mod so you can take AI prisoners if their units trespass in your territory. Then when you negotiated with them they could be a trade item. I am so sick of AI units tramping though my lands. If the human player does it, the AI is quick to complain. Complain to them and they...
Is there a way to keep up with the AI when it comes to empire expansion? I am playing on Regent level on a huge map with four other Civs. I can pop a settler every 7 turns in my capitol city. But even at that rate the AI has twice as many citys as I do. Right now I am sending all my settlers...
All these numbers!! I found a simpler way here, is what I did. The civs wanted 240 gold and I would get the tech in 14 turns at my current research rate. My gold at that rate was 12 per turn I currently had 380 gold in my treasury. Moving the slider to 100% research rate I would get the tech...
I understand that the more civs that have a tech, the cheaper it is to buy from them. However that did not seem to be the case in my situation. I was playing PTW on Regent level huge map with 4 other civs. I needed to get monarchy and I asked each AI what they wanted for it. All four of them...
Has anyone ever wondered how the AI is able to attack you with large numbers of units; at least 10 in each stack that it sends against you? There is support costs involved in keeping that big of an army around. If I were to built that big of a force, the support costs would be so high that my...
I like to play on world maps with correct starting positions. In my last game I played the Americans and I had the Aztecs as my neighbors. I had a huge advantage over them in techs and military but I decided that I would peacefully co-exist with them since I did not lack any resources that you...
Is there a mod available that will let you queue worker tasks? It gets pretty confusing sometimes when you are managing tons of workers and you are trying to remember what each one is supposed to be doing when the next turn comes up. Better yet how about a colored indicator much like...
Applying the discussion of nukes to current affairs, I cant understand why Bush and others are so worried about Saddam getting Nukes. He would have to be completely out of his mind to even use one against the U.S. Think of it. Suppose He destroyed Miami with a Nuke and killed 50 to 100...
I played on Chieftain level and using the advice in crackers improving your opening moves article, I was able to achieve a Space Race victory in the 1890s before that my games would always end with a high score victory. Yeah the AI does lousy research at this level and I was able to do most...
Is there a way to prevent the computer from building units or improvements that you have not selected? I constantly have to change production because the computer has started building something I do not want at the moment. Ive tried unchecking manage production on the governors screen but that...
I was playing Chieftain Level as Germany on a standard world map with correct starting positions. I was way ahead in techs in fact I was dominating the game. My military was far superior to anything anyone else had because most of them didnt have the resources for more advanced units and I...
Is there a way to manually control unit turns. What I mean is it looks like each unit turn comes in the order the unit was made. This does not get to be a problem until I have a lot of units in the game. The problem is that I might wish to move some units that are in the same general area but...
I have a Great Leader but my units will not load into it to create an army. What am I doing wrong? I move them just like I would move units onto a galley but nothing happens. When I move the GL, the units for the army are left behind.
