    The Great Greek Proxy Empire

I basically just did this on a Pangaea map that was essentially two separate continents with an isthmus in between. I tore poor Hiawatha apart with this strategy--it's pretty freaking hilarious. Standard works just fine for the strategy. And it will make you feel evil and Magnificent...

Help! My empire is very unhappy!

You're gaining unhappiness from population as well as from number of cities. My guess is that with all your cities, your population's skyrocketed. Pick a city that isn't as valuable and raze it, then grab Piety. Or just ignore unhappiness and go on a blitz and hope you take everyone else out...

Military Advisor has given up xD

I wonder if that's going to happen in Lemmy's current Diety game :D What did you do to break the poor AI man's brain?

*Help* with diplomacy for one of dishonorable bloodthirst

I got lucky. Poor Hiawatha was surrounded with city-states. And since they scale to the tech level of the most advanced player (me), we were talking artillery and riflemen against Mohawk warriors, crossbowmen, rocks, and trebuchets. Very funny. Quite sad. As for the AI, I think the AIs in...

Money Troubles for me... even on "Normal."

Where were your cities placed? Island maps can be a little gold-strapped, especially if you didn't build the Colossus early-game and don't have good water resources. A quick and easy way to make money is to sell your open borders to the AI, either for a lump sum or for gold per turn.

    Sulla's first Civ V walkthrough

As far as accessibility is concerned, I think Firaxis have done a bang-up job. I'm an experienced gamer, but by no means an experienced Civ player. I leapt into the game--without even consulting the tutorial or the manual, with pretty much zilch experience in turn-based strategy--and got...

*Help* with diplomacy for one of dishonorable bloodthirst

AIs also get mad whenever you lie or backstab. If you break a research agreement to declare war, don't honor a pact of cooperation, don't honor a pact of secrecy, act rude to their children and make them cry, etc. They're touch little bastards. However, I've found that the easiest way to get...

Try increase the difficulty settings if you are not satisfied with the AI

I do make fun of the AI in Civ, but to be entirely honest, few AIs in any strategy game will ever match up to a human player. The AI in shooters have a hard enough time with intuitively simple things like cover or flanking--when you turn up the AI in shooters, they get more bonuses, not...

    Puppet City or Annex?

I raze cities in the following circumstances: 1) The AI placed the city there to dick around with me. (It's happened. Hiawatha placed a coastal city by DESERT on my doorstep. Tool.) 2) The city is poorly placed/poorly developed. Usually not worth keeping. 3) My allied city states razed it...

    "Selling" luxury items

In the trade screens, just click on one of your luxury resources, preferably one that you've got multiple sources so you don't use happiness. Leave the opponent side of the screen blank, and click "What will you give me for this?" Or just set a gold amount and see if they adjust it down or not...

Marathon Man: the World is FLAT!

Props to you for patience. If I ever tried to play on Marathon, I'd shoot myself in the face with my roommate's staple gun. Seeing the perks of Songhai, eh? :D They're my new favorite civ. Or second-favorite, it's hard to dislodge the Greeks from their throne.

No war weariness; is war too easy?

Funnily enough, the AI seems to do poorly with large-scale battles (city attack, city defense) and quite well with smaller-scale skirmishes. I've witnessed far superior AI tactics by the barbarians and city-states than by the civs. When it comes to tactics, it's the barbys who run their...

I will make a game with the Harun Al rashid and try to win as financial on immortal.

Good luck. Unlike most folks here, I've been consistently impressed with Arabia while playing against its AI. It's the only one that's ever given me any trouble. An AI that can take over most of its continent and make upwards of 450 gold per turn? Not bad, not bad.

    Consistent AI Leader behavior/success/failure

Really? You guys weren't impressed by Arabia? I've played four complete games now, and in the two of them that had Arabia, it held out pretty damn well. In my Bollywood game, Arabia built up a huge empire and a massive treasury, then started taking out its enemies on my continent by buying up...

    I Accidently the whole world!

Makes sense. The True Start mod seems to tag each civ with a city-state--you'll notice it when you talk to them in their little leader animation screens. What probably happened is that the civ tagged with Oslo then declared war on Oslo, bugging the game. Still, this is great :D
