    New Expansion Speculation Thread

I wonder if they will nerf chopping in the next expansion by having that contribute to a climate change mechanic that adds up over time. So you basically have to think about prioritizing production boosts over the long term health of your world. If they were to nerf chopping, they'd need to put...

Why are Broadcast Centers unlocked in Tech Tree?

I think it goes a long way in explaining why it is so difficult to get more culture than science. Could you imagine if Research Labs were unlocked in the Civics Tree? It would make science accumulation way harder.

    New Expansion Speculation Thread

I know this has been said a million times—but I will be highly disappointed if they do not fix the AI. It is really, really average two years after the release date.

    [R&F] District Timing

I totally understand your concern here. I've had it in many, many games. Let me say up front that I play on online speed—so just double the numbers if you play standard. I try and get my first district up by at least turn 30. Usually, I will go with an Encampment, Holy Site, or Campus. Campus...

    [R&F] Online Speed Victory Turn

I'm a Immortal/Diety player who doesn't have the patience to go Standard speed. I've got about 800 hours of Civ VI. But it seems like science and culture victories take me about 150-180 turns to complete—which seems very slow. Particularly when it compares to victory turn # of Standard speed for...

    Deity culture victory strategies

This is all wonderful info. Why is rushing to Flight so necessary for CV? Do many improvements have culture that get boosted by tourism? What do those improvements entail (an amber mine?)?

    Beating my science-obsessed buddy

Victoria thanks for your reply. I really appreciate your civ analysis on this forum, so it's great to hear from you. Your notes on culture output are astute, but why do you put such an emphasis on the Coliseum? I thought it only provided a minimal amount of culture per turn? Or are you refering...

    Beating my science-obsessed buddy

That's a strategy I've been considering (I did it on Deity a couple of weeks ago). We never like to play straight duel, so yeah, we usually have three or four AI on a small map type. I am a huge fan of Khmer---they offer you the ability to go for Religious, Cultural, or Scientific victories. In...

    Beating my science-obsessed buddy

Agreed, and that honestly is a frustration I have with civ. Science trumps all other factors in the game---but, I suppose that is how civilization works in general. Those nations which were more "enlightened" did much better.

    Beating my science-obsessed buddy

That makes a lot of sense---I feel like America, France, and Greece would be my best bet to counter his science focus.

    Beating my science-obsessed buddy

We usually play with a couple of AI, but one of us always ends up winning the game. As for beelining flight/radio/computers---I'm assuming you do that through Campuses with just Library and University? Beelining for Research Labs would be too much of a tangent at that point in time?

    Beating my science-obsessed buddy

That's definitely a strategy to negate his advantages! I like it. But from there would you suggest the best way to go is culture? In all my MP games, I've never won a culture victory because science is inevitably so far ahead of tourism output. Does that make sense?

    Beating my science-obsessed buddy

My buddy and I love playing multiplayer. We are both Immortal players and each game is incredibly close. However, my friend is a little bit of a one-trick pony---he always goes for science victories. He prioritizes campuses early and often and rushes all the necessary buildings up to Research...
