    4,99$ For Babylon

    Spot on.

How do you rate Civ V after the first 4 weeks?

Exactly my thoughts. I can't even get myself to play it right now. There's just no substance.

    Diplomacy basics, please

Yep. I had a similar game with two continents. One AI conquered his entire continent including all the city-states. All the city-states declared war on him but the only thing he did was send a couple ships to my continent to fight the city-states. He never brought his land units over. I...

    TSG1 Game in Progress

Yeah there are times when it's useful to swap places with units and there'd be no other way to do it. But it's still frustrating when you do it by accident.

    Watch out for Specialists !!

Governor almost never uses specialists for me. It doesn't work production tiles, either, though, unless I set it to focus production. It just goes food, food, food all the time. Also, if you set it to focus production it would have taken those specialists out of the library.

    Harbors Might Require Circumnavigation

It seems like fairly often in this game the ice blocks any sailable route on both top and bottom of a continent. The land seems to stretch too close to the poles too often, IMO.

Some Basic Observations on Cultural Games in Civ5

As long as you have 2-3 whales/fish/pearls you should be fine with a coastal city as they'll become hammer tiles with a seaport. They can also build the wonders that require a coastal city. So one coastal city and 2-3 inland cities is probably best. The default option tends to favor food...

Why you should go for Hammers early and often

The trading post logic is thus: Trading post gets you enough gold to ally maritime city states which give you enough food to work the hammer tiles. I'm not sure I entirely agree with it but that's the logic they're using.

Building road to city state, not worth it?

If you get the quest to build a road to a city-state then just build the road then after you get the +influence you can remove it.

Wonders - the good, the bad and the ugly

Hanging Gardens comes too early in this game to make the population bonus worth it. You're lucky if you have 3 cities at that point and none of them are big.

Wonders - the good, the bad and the ugly

I'm not a big fan of wonders in this game. Hammers are scarce and I'd rather build infrastructure/units, even though infrastructure costs maintenance. I don't feel like I get the benefit out of wonders that I got in previous civs because of the lack of other buildings in my city due to my...

    1300 BC American Rifleman

No, crossbowmen don't upgrade to riflemen. It's a relatively short path to rifleman from warrior. warrior->spearman->pikeman->rifleman. So it only takes 3 ruins (2 if you started with a spear) and that's why you see it quite often in games. edit: I take that back, crossbows do upgrade to...

The merits of improvements: a counter to trading post spam

I agree with the OP. I build all farms to start and when my cities are large I switch to trading posts.

Is this match still worth playing?

At least he settled 4 tiles away. My last game I played two different civs both put their cities within 3 tiles of mine. I mean, come on. They're screwing themselves as much as they're screwing me. The AI should not ever build a city within 4 tiles of another city when the map is still wide...

    Diplomacy basics, please

I played a game today where I had a pact of cooperation with Persia. I sent a unit up near their borders and saw that they had like 6 immortals and several archers and warriors and I was like "damn, I'm glad I'm friends with him". About 10 turns later him and another civ tag-team declared war...
