If you could choose 3 traits, which ones would you choose?

Hmm... Agricultural and Industrious synergize with everything except Seafaring, but especially with each other, so the Maya are still overpowered, and now so too are your Egyptians and your Inca (which balances well against their not-great UUs) Scientific synergizes with Seafaring/Commercial...

Things You Used To Do (and are embarrassed by)

I've got plenty of boneheaded mistakes in my past that I can only imagine made my games a lot harder than they needed to be, and I'm wondering if anybody else might like to share their own. To start things off: 1) I used to think that I needed to put mines on Gold in order to get access (this...

Just for laughs, what would you do if...

... You had to play a Seafaring civ on a Pangaea map? Or a non-Seafaring on an Archipelago? Personally, Anybody else care to join in? I haven't played in years :( and I've come to realize that I'd made a lot of boneheaded mistakes even when I did used to play :shifty:

Huh, really? Even if the town is really small, like maybe just 2-3 people? True, but you are diverting their troops away from your own border at the same time. Oh, that is brilliant. Capture a town, gift it to a third party, capture another town, gift it to a fourth party, possibly recapture...

Does anybody ever use this Middle Ages war tactic for India? I've never actually done this myself, I just got the idea from watching a Let's Play series on Youtube. Build a large stack of War Elephants, send them through AI territory, and capture a small town far from the closest border of your...

Your favorite thing about civ 3

I loved that you're encouraged to mix different types of units together: in the Ancient era, Archers/Spearmen/Catapults; in the early Middle Ages, Longbowmen/Musketmen/Trebuchets (Civ 4 was also really fun, but the rock-paper-scissors of "Macemen start out with bonuses against other melee units"...

    Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

Since I'm starting to give more thought to a straight-warmongering play-style than I ever used to 1) how many people are lost under Fascist governments automatically 2) If I sacrifice population in captured cities to rush something, then send Settlers to pump the cities with my own people...

    Am I doing something wrong?

Oh, OK. The guy plays France on a Pangaea map, the episodes are about 15 minutes each (I've gotten through about the first 30), and the first one is right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUJwDWpy4wY. Warning: This is not a link to the actual Civilization game. This is just a recording of...
