    Marble Madness

Seconded. I came back to this thread twice since it started wondering if some sort of crazy savant had created a scenario somehow reminiscent of Marble Madness.

Re: "Barbarian horde" Quests - No Partial Credit?

Pretty much this. It's a little rough on immersion--your military shows up and just sort of watches the fighting until it can get some kills of its own--but it's how you'll get credit for the kills.

    Shaka melee unit cost

I didn't think being mounted precluded them from being melee. In particular, I know I've seen mounted and armor units regain HP via the Domination policy.

    Unhappiness!

Poking around the Workshop, it looks like it might actually be from World Congress Reformation, but the screenshots weren't quite what I meant. My current game is very early, so I don't have any cities with the dummies I was talking about (they're all pop-based, and my current game is only...

    Unhappiness!

Thanks. Hard to believe I missed it. EDIT: Read it over, and while it's a helpful primer (as the title suggests), it feels incomplete. I knew pretty much everything in the intro already, and still have happiness trouble. I think it's from conquered cities; all anyone ever says about...

    Unhappiness!

My search-fu is very weak, and I couldn't find it. I don't suppose you've got the name of the thread or something along those lines?

    Curious Diplo Modifiers

This might be a bit Watsonian of me, but you might think of the warmonger penalty as reflecting Elizabeth's true attitude toward you, and besides, you are a warmonger: For a mere 450 gp across 50 turns, she got you to declare war, and after all, she hates warmongers. ;)

    Resistance Mechanic Idea

I think, interpreted with a bit of imagination, the existing mechanics are fine. Influence already reduces the unrest period (to a minimum of 1 turn, instead of vanilla's 0), and remember that each turn (ostensibly) represents multiple years, at least prior to roughly the present date. A city...

    Special Forces OP?

I hate to rock the boat on such a great mod (I called it 'Civ V.v' to a friend), and I feel like maybe I'm missing something, but aren't Special Forces a wee overpowered? They become available sooner than Mobile Infantry, have the same higher base movement, come with the Amphibious promotion...

    Historical Events

Quick tangent: Does it count as winning a war if you eliminate an opponent? I've never noticed the historical event pop-up for that, but I do when I, say, negotiate peace with allies of theirs.

    Unhappiness Spiral

Thanks for asking, and sorry I didn't get back sooner. With the newer version, happiness has proven far more manageable. Even during war (when unhappiness from unrest/occupation was high), my happiness didn't dip more than thirty points or so from its pre-war levels, and captured cities were...

Crime Fighting: Slight Boost to Walls/Barracks

I'm not complaining (I think the free spy at start is a neat idea), but it does have a tendency to put Lizzy at the top of my hit list.

Crime Fighting: Slight Boost to Walls/Barracks

I'm not an anthropologist, or even a historian, but I think you're looking at it from a very modern perspective. Vagrants and transients, who may not make it past a gate guard, may reasonably have been kept in check by walling off a city, just as a military garrison in such a place would...

    Unhappiness Spiral

I understand; the issue is that the unhappiness was on all fronts! All four needs (gold, science, culture and defense) were scaling upward faster than I could possibly keep up, to the point that even a few cities with every available building and garrisoned by my highest possible CS unit would...

    Unhappiness Spiral

I've been playing a new game, under very similar conditions to the one that prompted this thread, and run into essentially the same problem. Drastically slowing my pace of conquest, heavily investing in the construction of buildings related to solving unhappiness problems, and manually...
