Why was maintenance made more crippling than Civ 3's corruption?

Yeah, Civ4 model's really makes more sense. Plus, it also prevents barbarians from essentially disappearing like five minutes after gamestart because the entire planet is covered in cities by then. Plus, its a pretty good at preventing ICS and other issues with expanding too hard without any...

Why was maintenance made more crippling than Civ 3's corruption?

I remember, Civ3 early game was essentially everyone and his mom spamming settlers until the land ran out. Then the fighting started. In Civ4, you usually build 3-5 cities then stop for consolidation a bit, then expand up again until you run out of land.

Enabling Revolutions in World Map Scenario

I'm using the last version in CivFanatics, not SVN. Yeah I saw the odd civs appearing from revolts, which is kinda annoying, but everything seems to be working as intended.

Enabling Revolutions in World Map Scenario

Wait, you can't enable it after choosing scenario? But I just did, and revolutions happen in my game. I did notice a few cities rebelling and swearing fealty to Barbarian State, tho. But I'm pretty sure they got taken back, so I don't think the planet is being swallowed in a tide of barbarism -...

Will there ever be a market for Civ IV remake?

Same. I think that what makes it is not just the better mechanics but also the IMMENSE modding potential. Honestly, I think the future is doing OpenCivIV. Like Open X-COM. There's even a OpenSMAC in the works. Would be null sweat to make it require having a copy of Civilization IV so the IP...

Will there ever be a market for Civ IV remake?

    You could always do that.

Would you import any features from other Civ games into Civ IV?

The way Alpha Centauri does terrain and climate in general is something totally unique and never seen before nor after in any 4X game. Its actually way more realistic, dynamic and correct than the boring static tiles of Civ games. Its also cool in that there's no such thing as "mountain/hill...

Will there ever be a market for Civ IV remake?

@Gumbolt That is true. But Reforged's original plan was dope, there's a pretty good article about it. The planning was totally crap. Not to mention, outsourcing something like that is dumb as hell. I have to agree ditching the OG graphics is a bad idea. I think something like what The Ninja...

How do you go about hunting effectively in this game?

How big? Three units? Four? Honestly, the bigger pod is in case of neanderthals. Human barbs don't scare me, neanderthals tho...

Will there ever be a market for Civ IV remake?

That, I have to agree. I think its, realistically speaking, our best chance would be an open source port. I see fanbases like the Fallout fanbase going all "Give us remake!"* meanwhile, the classic X-COM fanbase got off its ass and made Open X-COM - and now there are even some guys making a...

How do you go about hunting effectively in this game?

I have been doing some hunting now. I have a feeling the key is having a group of 5-10 units together: Hunters, spearmen and melee warriors (Brutes/Clubmen/Macemen, etc). The Hunter (Chasers, Trackers, etc) is there to attack animals and kill/submit them good. Its also worth giving them Hawk...

    C2C - UEM - Ultimate-Earth-Map 100% MOD and SVN update compatible by Pit2015

Hi there, this map seems deeply interesting to me. I would like to ask some questions: 1. Will it have crashes due to memory issues or something? Say, in a i5-3210M with 8gb RAM and SSD running it. 2. Does it have civilizations in old world or both new and world world? 4. Is it compatible...

    Realism Invictus

Been playing more of this mod. Romans now. Large world-map. Already conquered a good chunk of Europe. Preparing to conquer the rest of the historical roman land while eeying the approach of the South Chinese Empire (currently in Persia) with caution. Pretty great! Love all the unique units and...

    Realism Invictus

Hey, I have been playing this mod. Started with the HUGE world map, but I realized my computer can't take it. So I'm now playing with the large map. Some thoughts: - Why we can't choose all leaders of our civs in the World Maps? There is only one leader, despite these civs having multiple...
