EDIT: I just realized I phrased it poorly as you were also interested in the future, my bad.

I should note that I don't endorse everything on Rockwell either, I have my own views and in most cases those views are closer to the center than Rockwell's (Of course, the people on Rockwell don't always agree with each other either:p) Still, Rockwell is refreshing to read as an alternative to the daily "Government is good" we get everywhere else.

I like some Rockwell posters more than others, naturally.

Yeah, Obama or Lincoln actually being a king is hyperbole, although not completely invalid criticism. Both have tried to act like kings. Lincoln was much more effective at it, while Obama is kind of a "Poor man's despot".

I think calling Lincoln king is reasonable, although again, hyperbole. When you start locking people up outside of the legal system, I think that that's acting kind of like a king.

I don't know how Obama managed to do that free-speech zone thing. At least people aren't being locked up for criticism (As far as we know) today.

Whatever you think of the Civil War, I think its amazing that the greatest Presidents ever (tm) are the ones who grab the most power, while the John Tyler's, Grover Cleveland's, and Calvin Coolidge's of the world are quickly forgotten (Except by me:p)

If by that you mean gun ownership of any kind, yes I agree. The government isn't going to outlaw all civilian ownership anytime soon. They can't. But guns will likely become further restricted.

I don't really understand why so many self-professed libertarians (whether left wing or right wing) disagree with me on this issue. How can we possibly say that government is more trustworthy with weapons than the rest of us after how Obama has been using his drone strikes?

Frankly, I'd feel SAFER with no standing army and purely defensive militas at this point. Nobody would have any reason to attack us. Nor would our own government be able to. I'm much more scared of the United States government than any foreign one at this point. No foreign government is going to attack us. The US government, on the other hand...
