    YOUR FAVORITE CIVILIZATION part 2

I'm currently enjoying the (new) Iroquois. Agricultural gets you a faster growth rate early, and Commercial means those extra cities you're able to build aren't very corrupt. Their Ancient Age UU will give them a premature Golden Age if you try an early conquest, but it's strong enough to make...

    The New Civs Table

Keshiks are 4/2/2 and replace 4/3/2 Knights....what's their advantage? Are they cheaper, treat all terrain as roads, what? And what about the Ansar Warriors, who are basically crippled Riders?

They would never accept such a deal.

I often get the "They would never accept such a deal" message when offering gpt deals to the AI. At first I figured it was a distrustful AI, that simply didn't want to do any gpt deal on general principle, since that was the message I got when the AI wouldn't give me what I wanted no matter...

    The worst unit overall

I don't tend to use Catapults or Cannon, because I don't like having to get within one square to bombard. I might as well just have more Swordsmen. Artillery on the other hand are great. With Railroads, you can get them within two squares of an uncultured city without any movement cost. A...

    Techs

The thing about a tech lead, is that it's not always necessary. Look at a lot of techs in the Ancient Age; Mysticism, Polytheism, Construction, Currency. If you want to wage war, you basically only need Iron Working, though Horseback Riding is nice. If you can get the GL you can get up into...

    Great Library... Yeah, very great.

The way to get the Great Library fast is to first research Masonry and start on the Pyramids, then get Literature while working on them. You can then switch over. You just have to make sure you have Literature before someone else finishes the Pyramids, though a quick purchase of Mysticism can...

Wich is the WORST civilization related game?

Call to Power was a 50 dollar coaster. It had some good ideas but the execution was just off, it played like it hadn't been tested. "Stealth units" were horrifically unbalanced, and it always seemed like I was discovering new things to build about 2-3 times as fast as I could build them. Civ3...

    GOTM #8 *Spoilers* Thread

Well I'm more or less keeping up so far....I managed to build the Great Library, and probably got 6 or 7 techs from it, and saved up around 1200 gold. Now I'm winning a war against the Russians, who are spread out due to quite a bit of encroachment by the French. I mostly play on Regent, and...

    Stanley Cup

It's not only Roy, the entire team was awful. Worst performance I've seen by one of my local sports teams since Super Bowl XXIV...

Funniest Thing the AI Has Ever Said

I like when the AI offers to trade me mapmaking for my world map.

    New Expansion Pack Press Release!

Do we get a jewel case this time? I don't ***** about the other Civ3 flaws as much as other people, but the one thing that really offended me about Civ3 was shelling out 60 bucks for the collectors edition and getting the cd in a cheap little scratch-o-rific paper sleeve. Can you guys shell...

    Culture flipping away from border

I just had a city culture flip that was not on the border with any other civilization. It had many units in it, but most of them were bombers and artillery, and I'd gotten a temple built in it, but it culture flipped anyway. I was under the impression that this wasn't supposed to happen, that...

    bottom line..impressions on fun factor

While the game is never, EVER going to be good enough to please everyone on any message board, I think it's been getting steadily better. I especially like the reduced Forbidden Palace costs in 1.21 -- it means I can build it in my enemy's capital WITHOUT a leader if I want. Stacked movement...

    resource dilemma

Pretty much. They can't see the Saltpeter until they have Gunpowder, and trying to get it from them in a trade will be like pulling teeth even if they do have extra. But I wouldn't go to war for it, in most cases Saltpeter is a resource you can do without.

    which squares irrigate which mine???

Depends on the situation. Of course you always mine hills and mountains, but as for grassland, plains and desert, the nice thing about civ3 is how customizeable it is. Mining instead of irrigating gets you 1 shield in exchange for 1 food (2 for 2 with railroads), so you can basically decide...
