I used the world builder to delete civs one by one, then try finishing the turn until I figured out which civ caused the problems. Was unable to find our more specifically what was wrong, so ended up just deleting a whole empire. About 50 turns later though, got stuck again...

Hey, did you manage to get the bug where the game hangs solved?

I have the same bug and don't want to lose my game.
