Very cool project!
I don't think you need to match the AI behavior exactly. I doubt anyone would notice significant differences, something passable and playable would suffice. The AI wasn't exactly intelligent in the first place, and it had weird differences between the different versions. For...
To be clear, I'm talking about the icon with a globe in the background and pyramid in the front. I've tried to find this to no avail. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone would upload it.
Thanks!
I feel like unrestricted travel on the map is detrimental to gameplay. You could pretty much go wherever you wanted in Galactic Civilization II and I think the game suffered because of that. In Civilization you have terrain like water, mountains, culture borders, and roadway infrastructure...
So if you preorder this, you can play the alpha. I've played it a few hours now and it's pretty good. I don't think I've played enough yet to comment any more than that, but it reminds me of a mix between sins of a solar empire (in the way that travel between solar systems works) and Masters...

This preview is interesting because he seems like an actual fan of the series, and he says he'll answer some questions people have if they post them in the comments.
As a general rule, coders hate when a non-coder states "It would be so easy to implement, all you have to do is x, y, z!" You don't have access to the source code. You don't know how easy or hard it is to implement. Things that are seemingly simple are often a lot harder to do than they...
I just read a scan of the article and I have to say, I have a hard time believing someone was paid to write that. It was so poorly written that I actually felt bad for the author. Plus it was filled with at least 20 spelling and grammar mistakes that anyone with even a slight grasp of the...
This is just wild speculation on my part, but that job description leads me to believe that 2K will be hosting mods on their own servers that will automatically download / install to a users PC. In such a scenario, 2K could be sued for distributing mods that they don't own IP for. You can...
Lets be extremely conservative. Lets say that Civilization V would sell 1 million units without Steam. With your numbers, that would mean that with Steam, 100,000 people would refuse to buy Civ V.
Such a scenario would absurd in every respect of the word. Seriously, there is no way that...
I'm all for Steam, but that's just not true. There is no guarantee that the Steam version will last forever. Though unlikely, Valve could go out of business or shut down Steam or sell Steam off or, well, anything can happen really.
I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. DLC probably doesn't appeal to the guys who visit this site religiously, they'll probably opt to wait for and install mods. I think DLC is fine for the average consumer, they probably don't even know what mods are.
As for me being an...
