I had a little issue with the stability culture as well with Burgandy taking the iron square north east of the capital. Still, with a wonder built in my capital and as many culture buildings as I could get up and running they didn't have the square for too long.
I'm going to see if I have time...
I forgot about the workers. That is a good point. Maybe the best solution then is to settle the capital on turn two between the wheat and iron in Burgundy. You lose the +:health: for being on the river and might lose the stone to Burgundy's culture later, but the early workers more than makes...
Thanks Wessel. The Venice to Genoa seems particularly powerful looking the land involved.
I'm thinking of wasting two turns at the beginning until my settler reaches the square in Burgundy I would like. Non-ideal, as the first UHV criteria is timed and I'm guessing hard, but the location is...
So, which version of Rhye's spawn rules are used?
Specifically, I'm looking at the French start and with the territory I have to settle it's clear to me that in Burgundy would be the best place for my capital, if I can keep it. Under Rhye's old rules I'd get to keep my capital on the...
Every time I start the Blood of Angels scenario as Dovello it immediately claims "Barbarians wins conquest victory." Sabathil is the winner claiming her cities and the Dovello cities with no other cities on the replay. Interestingly, I get the victory in the HoF, but I can't move on to the...

I'd like to do an informal poll on reasonable final REF amounts at various difficultly levels. Obviously, this depends on other game settings, but for a normal bland average game. What are your opinions on the following three settings:
2) Pioneer
18 Regulars
10 Dragoons
4 Artillery
8...
2/5 Calapine outlines all the issues I have wonderfully. It really seems like the strategically better way to play the game takes away a lot of the fun.
I would add couple more points:
European colonists scale in cost too quickly and the specialist cost too little. This takes away...
