    Desert Gold?

Not a bug. A gold resource yields 2 gold. A flat desert tile yields nothing. A hill yields 2 hammers. It's a gold resource on flat desert = 2 gold yield.

    Upgrading vs building new troops

If tradition or honor, put them in cities for some benefits.

Use tanks and paratroopers to pillage their aluminum.

How many turns in Quick, Epic and Marathon.

I've definitely had quick games go over 250, so you might need to recheck that.

Does the AI search for resources or does it instantly know where they all are?

Sometimes when I do an advanced start in maybe the renaissance, I use the AI's city placement suggestions when I haven't managed to scout far with the starting units.

    Venice - yay or nay?

I hate it when I see good city locations and I remind myself that I'll never get those 2 horse 1 cow 2 stone silver city.

Why does the AI settle cities directly next to yours?

About the natural wonders, it does seem as is NWs spawn close to CSs. Often I've had to steal King's Solomon's Mines or something from a CS with a Citadel.

Make the AI act like a Player, Devs?

I know that the AI starts the game with a victory condition selected, but it doesn't seem to pursue it very well at all. Some games if you let it drag on for a long time, the AI would build Manhattan, Apollo, National Visitor Center, National Intelligence Agency no matter what victory condition...

    Who builds Temple of Artemis?

That's probably because archers are dirt cheap. If you built composites or crossbows then the bonus would be much greater.

Don't build any Ancient or Classical wonders on Deity

In the diplomacy screen, if they're Lord X or Lady X, then they've gone tradition. "Consul" for Liberty "the Great" for Honor "the Pious" for Piety "the Enlightened" for Patronage "Master/Mistress" for Aesthetics "Doge" for Commerce "Admiral" for Exploration "the Wise" for Rationalism...

Can a spy give you various info.

Go to the espionage window, click "View" under "Move Spy" and you can see the city and what the AI is building.

    Highest Yield Tile

After more thought, Cerro give 38 total yield 20 gold, 16 faith (One w/ nature and religious tolerance), 10 culture(Natural Heritage Sites) Also, not sure if golden age adds 2 gold to that as well. So potentially 48 points Category 3 So right now, we have 1. Russian owned strategic terrace...

    Highest Yield Tile

So the question: What is the highest possible tile yield in CiV? By "yield" I mean the total number of "points" of each tile (#of hammers+#of apples+beakers+culture etc.), objectively speaking. We are not trying to find out which tile is better for gameplay The four categories: 1. Normal tiles...

Don't build any Ancient or Classical wonders on Deity

I don't know why, but the AI just doesn't seem to go for Oracle. I've managed to get it many times with just a couple of chops. If I'm building HG however, I probably have two workers chopping like all my forest. Not sure if that's overkill but I've definitely lost it before, even with the chops...

    Making Civ less "deterministic"

What OP is trying to simulate is real life history, where cities rise and fall, productivity/science is more or less randomly directed to produce something that may or may not contribute to real life "win conditions". The thing is, the Romans didn't know they had to research Mathematics to get...
