Playing as Liz and I built a harbor on an island city but no trade route has been created. Kind of ruins my plans to play as Liz on an archipelago map.
But how is it for gameplay? Granted I only generated one map out of interest, and although it looked "realistic" some of the civs had precious few hills nearby - usually only in the capital's BFC.
Most: Shaka, Montezuma, Pacal, Joao, Zara, Gilgamesh
Least: Elizabeth, Victoria, Peter, Catherine
Probably my mind playing tricks, but I seem to get the BtS leaders much more often than the vanilla ones.
I agree that tech trading is poorly implemented - I play on Monarch and put on Aggressive AI and Hemispheres with High Sea level in the hope that some civs will not have contact to trade for a while, and Ramesses' destroyers still show up on my shores in 1712. Wtf!
I think that tech trading...
Bad luck - and I've had it in spades. 3 straight times as Hannibal. The first was a generic barb uprising which wiped me out before 2000 bc, the next my warrior popped 4 barb warriors from a hut just outside my borders and i was dead at 3700bc!, the last one I at least was in slavery and was...
Not long after BtS came out I kept track of all of my results in similar games (Large map, 11 AIs, Hemispheres, Monarch, no tech brokering). At the time I was winning on Monarch only about a third of the time so these results aren't unduly influenced by civs getting whacked for startiing out...
Exactly. Ever since the collapse of communism and the discrediting of state-run economies, governments have been searching for ways to re-establish control. Global warming, although I believe it is real and largely man-made, is being exploited for just that end.
So is global terrorism...
I have the same problem but with scouts. I just know if I pop a scout in the first hut I end up with 4 or 5 of them. I suppose they make good fog busters on large maps.
Espionage and a bit of luck is how to handle this. I won my first Emperor game after I kept Mansa's third cultural city in revolt for about the last 75 turns of the game. Luckily I popped a great spy just when that city was hitting 40,000.
I still had to capture Berlin to prevent Fred from...
Gilgamesh is usually mid table in my games. Zara Yaqob and Pacal always seem to be at the top when they appear. Monty dead last (or eliminated) nearly always.
Mehmed. Twice now he has started 1000+ year long wars with me. Once I couldn't gain an advantage on him and had to build the Apostolic Palace just to stop the fighting.
Needless to say we were both hopelessly behind after that.
