So I've discovered every tech in the tree. Now the game is asking me to "Choose Research", but there's nothing left. In previous Civs you could always go to Future Tech, but now I'm stuck... unable to progress to the next turn.
WTF?!
So after months of owning the game, and after a short gaming hiatus, I finally finished my first game via conquest. Serves me right for taking this long since I started on the largest sized map at the slowest possible game speed. As much as I enjoyed the experience of achieving victory, I have...
Great thread, and thanks for the cunning strategies at the start. I never would have thought to trade useless open border treaties for gold prior to borders actually being useful.
Yes, but I was like that for Civ4 as well, and its one of (if not the exclusive) my favorite games of all time. I just can't game at that intensity for that long and stay captivated. I need to rotate games.
Yep. Two coastal cities in C1 have harbors.
When I get home tonight I'm going to double check that the road between the inland city (C2) and the coastal city (C2) is actually and uninterrupted city to city line. I had it being constructed by 3 or 4 different workers... so if the mechanic is...
In my current game the world is split into three continents (henceforth C1, C2, C3). I started off in C1 and eventually got all my cities linked to my capital. Later on, to assist my conquest of C2, I built a coastal city ("Venture") and placed a harbor in it for instant trade route link. I...
I assume the leaders aren't saying a direct translation of the written text on the diplomacy screen. Any of you multi-lingual folks out there care to take a shot at translating what each of the leaders are saying in their intro vids?

I'm seeing the opposite right now on my continents map. The Americans and the Japanese are building ultra dense clusters of cities. I find it peculiar given the amount of space still left in the continents.
Example - Washington
Early in the game I had dominated my own continent and found a...
My first game I was playing as the Egyptians. It was pretty early and I had just placed my second city. It was about 8 hexes away from my capital. Out of the fog of war comes Ceasar and plops a city at almost the exact geometric center between my two cities. Then he opens a diplo window and...
Totally agree on how fickle the AI can be.
Played a recent map with three large continents. I killed off Germany early and had total control of my own continent. As soon as I could sail, I moved tons of troops over to Continent2, where I meet the Americans. We hit it off pretty well...
1) The way the AI (even the barbarians) fights wars needs an overhaul. Examples...
- Barbarian archers guarding a camp will never fire at incoming units. They fortify.
- AI never seems to guard ranged units.
- AI rarely capitalizes on weakened units. On a few occasions I've had severely...
Careful though. Puppet states will build all kinds of buildings that you have to pay maintenance for. :(
I definitely feel you on the number of cities thing. Civ5 definitely made the subjective judgment that less cities are better than more cities. However, one thing I love is that pillaged...
I was hoping someone would come along and say the exact opposite. :(
I started a thread in the Customization section to see if anyone has any hot ideas about leveraging the SDK to fix the issue.
