JCivED - a toolbox for Civilization

I'm also a Darklands enjoyer, so I checked the darklands art out with jcived. Yeah if you accommodate that palette offset, that would be exciting.

    I think I overdraw military a littlebit :-p

That is a very inspiring realm of knights, catapults, and cities.

    civil disorder why?

Cityspam is not-at-all unfeasible, and one of the reasons you can still do it in version 04/05 might relate to a bug I mentioned on the first page... it only costs 2 luxury diamonds to turn a redshirt directly into a happy. The city pictured there in a 100+ city empire produced a set of 15...

    Bug (customize world) world age.

Well the solution is just to pick 3 billion if you want more flat land. When I posted a poll on this subject some years ago I was also very suspicious about this. Here's three more maps. 3 billion 4 billion 5 billion

    Your First 10 Techs.

It really does. I should point out that you always start with irrigation, mining, and roads in Civ 1, though, so they are not among the variable factors. At least after the wheel, my go-to conquest path is this: Navigation - this is important for a conquest victory unless on EARTH, and it has 8...

JCivED - a toolbox for Civilization

This worked just fine for me on win 10 java 8

JCivED - a toolbox for Civilization

Similar problem here. I have Java Version 8 Update 321 64 bit, dated 1-18-2022, and I only get the blink and terminate when I double-click the Jcived batch file. This is a fresh install of windows 10, having unwillingly moved on from 7. Everything worked fine in 7. How do you install openJDK?

    Most underrated CIV 1 unit?

I'm sure vans and diplos are not underrated though, except by the people who forget to use them lol The most powerful unit, chariots, have already been correctly assessed as well. I like cavalry as a nominee. That is a good score from a hut. You get to reveal the map, often for 0 maintenance...

    Highest Score

I have one game's worth of practical experience with optimizing the full EARTH map (or trying to, at least), and here is my story. To answer your second question, I believe tile improvements are the limiting factor on development when using settlers legitimately. For scoring purposes, the game...

Oh, right, I wasn't thinking of the minimum pop threshold for WLTK. It is 3. Also I misread- I thought he meant for the ghost cities themselves to increase their population by celebrating, which they cannot do, since they have no food surplus. One way to go about this, instead of having an...

Any city can celebrate but they need 1 or more food surplus to get the pop increase IIRC

Shift+5,6 cheat for .5 version of Civ: restored! (kinda)

I would never have guessed that thing had a toggle. Another great find Tupi XVI32 just like him

    civil disorder why?

@Tancretus I do not know when redshirts came in... all I know is that number-of-cities unrest was not in the original shipped version. Could be they were implemented along with that mechanic since it is the only context in which you are likely to see them.

    civil disorder why?

It is definitely a bug. Emperor was thought to be almost unwinnable; certainly having dozens of cities and high tech was considered out-of-reach. The number-of-cities unrest was introduced in "finalized" patch disks mailed-out to customers well after release. It was tested for crashes sure, but...

Rare and unused messages in CivDos

Welp, you got me curious about what the *GAPE message is. kek Nope, never seen that one. Just a wild guess, but I noticed you don't have it down as checking for contact or war status with the civ, just embassy. Maybe it is doing something incorrectly somewhere?
