It's not really bothering me. I confess I've owned Civ 3 for 2 or 3 years and never played a game to the Industrial Age. I've owned Civ 4 for a couple of months and never made it to the modern age. I suppose I just lose interest and start another game. I'll welcome a shorter game.

I'm definitely going to play as the French. More out of being a Francophilic than anything else.

A bit off topic but certainly interesting. Anyhow why not just give the player the ability to enter a custom name? Sure you are going to get a lot of genital references but no one else has to see them.
