What about buildable "legendary units" like in the legends of revolution mod for Civ 4? They were unique historical units like the 300 spartans or the Bismarck that were treated like wonders, kind of.
You'd think firaxis would occasionally take a look at what paradox is doing. Nothing's more satisfying than conquering provinces without firing a shot, especially if it's land your nation historically never had.
It would be interesting if sponsors had a way to force eachother's hands, like...
You forgot the opportunity cost of not being able to trade with that station, which is significantly worth more than +50% trade with the first station for 20 turns.
Also it's really dumb that stations on an unfriendly planet don't spawn military units and have zero city defense.
1UPT isn't the reason the AI is bad. Civ5/BE uses a combat system very similar to advance wars and the AI in those games is smarter than in civ (it probably helps that every unit in advance wars can move at least 4 tiles per turn-it makes maneuvering a lot easier.) I really think firaxis just...
Is there any benefit to international trade routes that benefit the other sponsor instead of you? Can you use them to improve diplomatic relations or anything like that?
they really need to make more use of the quest system. At least in BTS the events were somewhat random but here it's all the same events every game (and I'm not sure the AI gets any of them, has anyone seen an AI player get the culper lodge?) Firaxis missed an opportnity to create paradox...
Specialize the combat ships so they have a rock paper scissors relationship
Gunboats would be fast melee boats that could bombard coastal tiles and see subs but would be vulnerable to...
...battleships, durable ranged units that could make quick work of cities and smaller boats but would be...
I have a ton of ideas.
-double the map size and the number of moves per turn for all units (this should help prevent traffic jams with 1upt)
-Whole new set of sponsors and leaders so the game doesn't feel like a TED talks fairy tale. Why couldn't suzanne fielding be really sketchy like...
