When I've upgraded mutated units, it looked like what happened was that they lost multiple applications of the same effect. So if they had say +10% attack strength applied four times for +40% total, after upgrading it would go down +10% total.
I have had a fair number of stability issues, without running modmods. It's possible that it's just my system running low on memory, I think, as it only has 1GB. However, I didn't uninstall 1.23 before I installed 1.3. Would doing a clean install likely help?
The fastest way to improve the worker issues is to manually modify the first two workrate promos. Change them from +25% to +100%. Then you only need 3-4 workers/city, and the AI can get stuff done as it will use the promos as well.
Yes I noticed the questing was additive. But nerfing it to 25 exp (or whatever) still leaves it a neat mechanic for the Grigori to field slightly stronger armies after some incubation time.

The problem with it not being portable is it makes the cauldron completely useless. The thing costs 700 hammers, so it's only reasonably buildable in an established city with good production. The kind you'd be an idiot to let come under direct attack in the first place.
