I'm past the patch, and now downloading files for first time setup. Specifically DirectX9.

Does it work that way? If you build a nuclear plant, does the "use" of uranium in building the plant reduce the number of units you can field? Or are buildings and units "independent" in terms of usage?

I think I would probably go for the land tiles a ways away before I went for the ocean within the ring. I'm thinking those ocean tiles would be last ones I would obtain unless I wanted to block a nearby city-state.

I don't know if this applies to Direct2Drive or not, but if you pre-ordered the digital version through Steam, Civ5 is currently available to pre-load right now. Authorization won't be until Tuesday at 10 am EDT, I'm sure, but at least you'll be ready to go at that time if you pre-load.

After reading this thread, I wondered if I could download Civ5 today in anticipation of Tuesday's authorization. Yup, I could. So I'm downloading the program right now as I type.
