    Is Palace Jumping an exploit?

To me, and I've said this elsewhere, the simplest solution is to disallow a player from disbanding their capital. I also think that if a player has an FP, or is building an FP that is more than 50% completed, then that city should automatically become the capital, and the FP should be...

    Is Palace Jumping an exploit?

Well, my 2 cents: Bamspeedy and Sir Pleb are arguing that there are NO exploits; that everything is "legal" because the definition of the term exploit is slippery and therefore we can't pinpoint any opne thing as an exploit. This seems a bit extreme to me. That said, I (sadly) like...

    Is Palace Jumping an exploit?

Moving and jumping are NOT the same things. Yes, moving one's capital is and should be entirely legal. Palace jumping is a technique discovered by an over-zealous player wherein you exploit a knowledge of the inner algorithms used to determine where your palace would be placed if your...

    Re Shakespeare Theatre

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that Hospitals helped eliminate disease in cities build near flood plains and jungles. Since there is benefit to building ST near a floodplain (watch that poulation soar), building a hospital later might help to mitigate the disease factor.

    Att: Civ Producers.

I might add, too, that Civ III and its expansions comprise a great work as is, right out of the box. The fact that you CAN mod the game, if you wish to, only makes the game stronger. But I consider myself a pretty good Civer (as far as those things go), and I have almost never modded the...

What can be done to help the paratroopers?

I'm not sure it makes sense to do this. In fact, if anything, their defense should be lower the turn after the land, as they attempt to regroup and entrench.

Golden Age - do we really need/want it?

To answer the initial post in this thread, yes, the AI gets Golden Ages. And I think that modding them out except under very specific circumstances could (not always, but sometimes) be a tremendous advantage to the human player over the AI, since the AI cannot anticipate a certain wonder in...

    Is Palace Jumping an exploit?

Let's keep this in the realm of reality, no? Actually, disabling the palace pre-jump would be as easy as making it impossible for people to abandon the capital city of their empire. If you can't disband your capital, you can't do the palace pre-jump. You still get the benefits of superior...

Do you declare war just to get workers?

True, it can cripple the AIs development. At the same time, if you grab two workers in the early game, you get hundreds of turns of maintenance-free labor. Quite a substantial benefit, if you ask me...

Do you declare war just to get workers?

One of my treasured early and mid-game strategies is to grab lonely workers when I come across them, even though this results in war against my neighbors. Why? Several reasons: 1) It weakens potential future enemies 2) It strengthens you 3) Maintenance-free workers 4) Incredible return...

    Saltpeterless Yet Again

According to someone posting under the sticky Patch 1.13 thread, the resource issue is a bug introduced with C3C. Apparently, the bug stems from the implementation of new terrain types. Firaxis is looking into the issue. As I've said elsewhere, for me the issue isn't too few resources for the...

    Beta Patch 1.13 Released

I wasn't criticizing or nitpicking. I was just surprised. I have probably 40+ cities on my Large map in the game I am currently playing, and I think I'm in control of less than 25%. This statement from my last post was meant to refer to the resource issue, NOT your anomolous controlling of so...

    Beta Patch 1.13 Released

A huge map, and you control 1/2 land area w/ 25 cities. Those must be culture-rich cities. Maybe someone should post this in the bug forum?

    Beta Patch 1.13 Released

BretP, Shyrramar: I agree. I've been noticing a startling lack of strategic resources, as well as luxuries. The luxuries, I don't mind. The strategic resources, however, are severely unbalancing the game--in my favor. I keep running up against civs with no iron in the mid game; as you can...
