  • That's not saying an awful lot. If you want to believe in something hard enough, you can always find a reason to do so.

If constant decay rate is one thing that can't be known, how can anything in Genesis be known for certain?
I think that "unlikely to many" is a little bit of an understatement. Is there any scientific evidence to suggest that carbon dating is consistently inaccurate and not fit for the job?
The Skeptic article wasn't supposed to be evidence against creationism, but asking why creationists seem to be petrified by evolution and the concept of absolute Biblical truth or not at all.

The second one was simply provided as a counter to the creationist stuff you've been reading. After all, you said you originally believed in ancient dinosaurs, so there's a geologist giving reasons why YEC could very well be in error.
Which one? I presented two articles, the least of which you could do is comment on both.
Also, if you're interested in a geologist's view of creationist science (which is always going to be more thorough than "some chap on the Internet, however pleasant"), then look here.
What do you think of this article? I'm particularly interested in the section at the bottom.
It's an extraordinary fallacy of logic to think that people get their morals from religion and not the other way around. Do you think that the Jews would have ever made it as far as Mt. Sinai if they had been under the impression that murder, theft, adultery, and perjury were acceptable? I think it is much more likely that human beings have an innate sense of solidarity with each other which guides our morality.
Well maybe not morality as you recognise it, but I'd bet that it does teach morality. That is the main aim of religious practice after all, beyond that of venerating the gods.
Well, you might have a case there, but religions frequently differ on what constitutes moral behaviour, so it's not much of a statement to make (even if true).
Didn't we already have a long conversation about morality not solely descending from Jesus?

I went through a "Dad said it, so it must be right" phase too, but you really shouldn't regurgitate everything you hear without checking it elsewhere.
If your going to use one of the greatest symbols we trolls have i suggest you do some real hardcore trolling then the pathetic stuff i've seen so far.

    Signed English troll..
A he AFAIK, and I was even once corrected by a mod for calling him a girl (Accidentally, I genuinely thought that.)

That said, he could be a she and just joking;)
