US "turbo" fighter from Harry Turtledove's Settling Accounts series. It was described as having 2 podded engines under the wings and 4 30mm cannon in the nose and had a shark like look to it. Obvious it was describing something like the Me-262. Notice that the US insignia is not a star but an eagle and two crossed swords.
