The BPzV Svatava is a Czechoslovak combat reconnaissance amphibious vehicle designed to conduct reconnaissance or combat activity behind enemy lines, constructed on the basis of the BVP-1 infantry fighting vehicle. Its development began in 1984 , the first prototype was produced in 1987, and the following year the machine was introduced into the armament of the Czechoslovak People's Army. Its main weapon is a 73 mm cannon with a coupled machine gun, the armament also consists of a 9K11 Maljutka anti-tank missile set, four RPG-75 armored personnel carriersand twelve hand grenades. The vehicle is equipped with a smoke grenade launcher, a night observation device, a radar, a radar seeker, a navigation device, means of anti-chemical research, a mine detector, a radio station and other equipment. A total of 200 units were produced.
