Egyptian Middle Age Unit Pack (Mamluks) 2016-10-05

This Mamluk unit pack is supposed to represent the earlier period of Mamluk rule, the Mamluk Sultanate between 1250-1517 (The Bahri and Burji dynasties) and not the Mamluks under the Ottomans. Of course since the latter Ayyubid armies were largely composed of Mamluks one can use some elements of this pack for the Ayyubids as well. All of the Islamic Egyptian Packs are filled with elements that overlap with each other anyway, any sane man would have long since making these units. As it is commonly known, the Mamluks came to power becuase of the Ayyubid's reliance on Turkish slave soliders. After the death of the last Ayyubid Egyptian Sultan as-Salih Ayyub the Mamluks murdered his son and the Mamluk Emir Izz al-Din Aybak married his widow and, in short, became the new sultan. Thus the Ayyubid dynasty in Egypt ended pretty similar to how it begun. The Ayyubid dynasty would continue in Syria mainly as a puppet state in Hamas until 1377 when the last ruler would be deposed. After the sack of Baghdad and the destruction of the Abbasid Caliph, a new caliph was created centered in Mamluk controlled Cairo, giving the Mamluk's a very useful religious propaganda tool.

Here is the unit list,

Mamluk Archer
Mamluk Cavalry
Mamluk Crossbowman
Mamluk Heavy Cavalry
Mamluk Heavy Cavalry
Mamluk Heavy Cavalry
Mamluk Horse Archer
Mamluk Swordsman

All of the Mamluk Heavy Cavalry variations are made to be in the same unit but can be used separately for any other use. The Banner is based on a banner in one of the Osprey books, albeit the texture is so small it is more of a approximation of it.

Animation directions are inside of the zip.
