The BTS version of EMM. This mod is aimed at providing some improvements to the game flow without drastically changing it. Some of the most prominent changes to the DLL:
- Promotions now can be reacquired when the unit gets upgraded if the older promotion is not available on the newer unit (so that you can change 25% vs melee bonus to say %25 percent vs gunpowder, etc.)
- Separate unit combat attack and defense modifiers (to the XML). Now a horse archer can have a bonus when attacking the siege weapons for example (used to be a bonus against specific unit classes (like Catapult), or a general bonus (attack and defense)).
- Features (flood plains) now can stay in cities (added a flag to the XML). Also can build cities on oasises.
- Golden age num units required is now static (does not increase with every golden age). This is made because the great people rate is already offsetted with every great person born.
- Some random events got cancelled (bonus discovery, global warming)
- The annoying declare war popup in neutral lands got removed.
- AI tech trade on different difficulty levels is now fair. (As tech cost at different difficulties is offsetted, the AI wanted more for a tech on difficulties higher than Noble. This is not quite fair as the research cost for the tech for you has already been offsetted.)
- AI counters now work only when having met (so, no "You have traded with our worst enemies" when just met).
- AI now considers more circumstances before opening the borders.
- The barbarians now can only build units a nearby civ city can. (This is made to not meet advanced barbarian units when playing for a weaker civ on some scenarios (like Earth1000AD)).
- 30 players
Other changes (python and XML):
- New trade advisor (I admit it looks awful, but it's was more convenient to me than the original).
- Some unique units and building got removed from the XML.
- Handicap changes (now less difficult on higher handicaps).
- Resource yield changes.
Note: this version is not quite polished. TBH, I literally ripped it off "as is".. There may be inconveniences (especially in the XML). As with the original EMM for the vanilla Civ you can use the core without the XMLs (with your mod for example). Some changes to the XML (for all new features to work) have to be done manually in this case.
Installation: extract the contents of the archive to the BTS's Mods/ folder (so that it should be: (BTS game root)/Beyond the Sword/Mods/EMM/; do not put it to the game's root Mods folder!).
