Enhances the Flavour of Governments, Celebrations and Ideologies through cosmetic changes. Each Celebration receives a unique name and a new icon that helps give it more context, and the Celebration panel shows a background based on the Government picked. The Ideology Civics have been reorganized and renamed, and they now use a general icon much like Civilization Icons to help distinguish them more clearly. The Democracy Ideology was renamed to Liberalism to better fit with the rest in the ideological conflict, with a new Torch icon.
The Celebration picker panel has also been reworked to add a new flavour text that depends on the government you picked allowing it to feel more related and hopefully enhancing immersion. Now that Celebrations have unique names that relate to the government it helps making it feel more part of your style of governing and less just like bonuses.
Antiquity Changes
- Classical Republic becomes Republic. The "Classical" felt innecessary and this way it fits more with the others. Its celebration is a "We Love the Consul" Day.
- Despotism becomes Autocracy. Giving a stronger vibe of Roman autocracy to enhance the military focus.
- Oligarchy becomes Bureaucracy. This represents the more descentralized empires that depended on governors and civil service, more linked to hydraulic empires and stuff.
Exploration Changes
- Feudal Monarchy remains the same.
- Plutocracy becomes Merchant's Republic. To enhance the venetian/hanseatic league vibe.
- Theocracy becomes Divine Succession. This represents Caliphates and Papal States, the name being more of a generic take on succession (because Caliphs are considered Successors as are Popes in a way) while keeping the religious government theming. This helps it fit more with the age with more precission.
Revolution Crisis Changes
- Constitutional Monarchy becomes Absolute Monarchy. Absolute Monarchy fits more the concept of the crisis and timeframe.
- Revolutionary Republic remains the same.
- Revolutionary Authoritarianism becomes Patriotic Dictatorship. This helps setting it apart more from Revolutioanry Republic thematically and helps represent the early Dictatorship of Bolivar and other Caudillo characters.
Modern Age Changes
- Authoritarianism becomes Military Junta. This helps to make it feel more related to charismatic leaders and enhances the militaristic theme.
- Bureaucratic Monarchy becomes Constitutional Monarchy. Fits better the timeframe and its more evocative of real examples as a real government name.
- Elective Republic becomes Representative Democracy. Taking the name from the ideology allows to make it more explicit in terms of modern forms of government.
- Mexico's Government is now called Revolutionary Convention and its Celebrations have also received unique names.
Ideology Changes
The Democracy Ideology has been renamed to Liberalism so its all 'isms'. Also the civics have been renamed so their progression makes more sense (you no longer research Communism before Socialism) and the civic description includes a little note mentioning that starting progress on them locks you out of other ideologies. Also Ideology Civics have icons more akin to Civilization Civics to help them stand out more with regular civics.
These changes are purely cosmetic, which means this mod doesn't affect saved games. Hopefully in the future we will have a second part of this mod with some additional gameplay changes (might take a while because of work and other time constraints).
