Located in the city of Gyeongju, South Korea, Cheomseongdae (whose very name means 'star-gazing platform') is believed to be the oldest surviving observatory in the entirety of East Asia. It was built during the seventh century, near the capital city used by Queen Seondeok, out of 362 granite blocks, which represent the 362 days of the lunar year. The symbolism is further continued with the platform having twenty-seven layers of stones, which are said to represent that Queen Seondeok was the 27th ruler of the kingdom of Silla. Available once both Calendar and Masonry have been researched, Cheomseongdae provides +1 Science for every 3 citizens in a city.

Changdeokgung is one of five palaces located in the South Korean capital of Seoul. It, along with the other 'Five Grand Palaces' was constructed by the Joseon Dynasty in 1405. It took 7 years to build, being completed in 1412, and was the second palace to be built in Seoul. During the Japanese invasion and occupation of Korea the temple was severely damaged, so only around 30% of the temple remains today. There are several different sections of the Palace, including a garden in which only Kings, and those whom had express permission from the King could enter.
