This Old World map is my first map for Civilization. It is a modification of an Earth 100x56 map, and is designed with the primary intention of playing well on old machines, and secondary intention of being well-balanced and providing decent competition. Testing has been done, but time limited it to about four run-throughs, so the balance isn't perfect. Nonetheless, all civilizations have a chance at victory.
This map is of the Old World and measures 62x56, for a total of 3472 tiles. I designed it so it would be playable into the late game at reasonable speeds even on slower machine. It gives both the familiarity of a world map and the enjoyability of a small map while retaining decent geography. Rather than feature the civilizations in their actual starting locations, it has eight civilizations spread out so as to be more balanced and to utilize most of the land.
